RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101

rcairflr,

Thanks! That was very nice of you to take a pics of the setup. I suspected that it went that way. Does it work OK?

RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101

Does anybody know what to do with the tailwheel assy that come with a rod with eyelet attached to the pivoting tailwheel, a 2.5 inch spring and wood screw? The manual is silent on this.

RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101

I am planning on using Futaba 9156 servos for the elevators. These provide 344 oz in on 6V. Any thoughts on whether or not these will provide enough torque?

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I think you're being overly cautious with the airplane. If the manual says to lift it by the wingtips, lift it by the wingtips. That said, you didn't say where any of the radio gear was located so...

RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101

JC,

Google "peter goldsmith tuning guide" and you should find a guide written by a TOC pilot that explains it all.

Rezagh,

I've got the Fut 9CAP. Thanks for the thought though.

RE: Build Thread: New QQ-Yak 54 101

The manual is so well done and the ARF of such good quality I have no questions on the build. But how does she fly? What mixes have you implemented?

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I would like to point out that quoting Troy Built Models, "I have never increased servo torque and not seen an improvement in performance.". 340 oz. in. crazy overkill??? I don't think so but I...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I replaced the aileron HS5625 (133 oz in.) digitals with some Futaba 9156 (340 oz. in.) digitals last weekend. Made a huge difference even though my throws are very low. The airplane responds much...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Castor,

I suggest you fly it as is and make your own determination about what you need to do. It may fly well enough for you. For me it wouldn't be close to having enough power. I don't do 3D...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

I agree with BJOR comments about building this airplane as light as possible. I went with qty. 1 2000 mah lipo pack with Fromeco regulator for the airframe and one 950 mah lipo pack on MPI reg. for...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

If I were looking for an engine for this bird, I would buy a used DA-50, send it in to DA for checkout and fly that. I did that with mine and am very happy Idid. The airplane balanced sligthly nose...

Lill Will,

Funny I've got the Lanier 33% Edge and the Patty too...just like you. I think the Patty is more precise. You? Ilike the Edge too but I"ve bought the 101" Quique Yak and I"m going to put...

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Ihear Patty has been busted a few time for drinkin and drving. Iguess she builds up a lot of stress doing her routine and then has to let off some steam.

RE: GP Patty Wagstaff - Building & Flying

Castor,

Either your engine is starting up and running CW or your prop is for a pusher type engine.

RE: Lanier Edge 540 ARF 94" 80cc for 400$

I took a look at the gear on Graphtech's website and the gear for the 90" Edge is not long enough in the base dimension for our Edge. I ordered a set of gear for the Dalton 35% Extra 260 with a 2"...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Could you elaborate on the "not for beginner"? Does that mean it's a lot of power or do you mean it is it marginal power? The Saito 1.80 is rated at 2.8 hp.

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

I'm considering the O.S. FT-160, that's the flat twin cyclinder, 4-stroke 1.6 cui for this airplane. I want the airplane to fly in a scale like manner. I'm thinking this won't be enough power. ...
