RE: My boat

Ripstop is fine for your project. I have some ripstop sails here that are 25 years old and still work well. The Victoria comes stock with ripstop sails and I think it was Geoff Becker that used the...

RE: 10th scale AC Racing Sailboats

Neither are available as of yet. I am still learning the Mach 3 software for the mill that makes the pieces. I am trying to keep the winch price at or below $100.00 One other nice feature is that...

RE: 10th scale AC Racing Sailboats

RE: 10th scale AC Racing Sailboats

The 1/10th scale AC boats are active in France, but they are quite a bit larger. Also notice that they are using genoas, which is why I developed the new winch for that sail.

They have been...

RE: Another identification please...

Yes... he will have some waterline on you... but you are most likely lighter and will accelerate faster... the classic conudrum.

It looks like a wonderful boat, I do hope that he gets it out on...

RE: Another identification please...

I think I can name that tune in 1 note... (if anyone can remember THAT far back)

Your boat is a Half-Meter. It's a long story... but suffice to say... that a guy on the East Coast...

RE: #8 or 9 leed shot

Even better than #9 birdshot is lead beading from a blasting booth. If you have any "plating" shops, sometimes large truck tire companies have them... they often cast out their lead beading along...

RE: Great Basin Marine

It's a loss for all of his customers, but I know how Don feels and he is certainly entitled to a rest. I know he will enjoy getting away from it and enjoying his own boats for a change.

Thanks...

RE: Information needed. Can you help me to ID this sailboat?

I studied the pics more carefully (i.e. put on my glasses) and the sweep of the stem looks a little more abrupt on yours... just a hair. Even that could be the construction method or an inadvertant...

RE: Information needed. Can you help me to ID this sailboat?

Well it's not a Newport 12M, but it quite well could be a Reynolds 6M. I still manufacture the boat and it is a wonderful sailing machine. I removed the skeg from the rudder, and went with a...

RE: Sailboat kit

I always see everyone focused on the deck weight. Forget that, I don't care what your deck weighs, tell me what your ballast weighs. If you are over 18 lbs of lead, you are in the ball park, if...

RE: winch servo power

Yes, it should be fine. I routinely install Futaba 5801 models in EC-12's carrying 1200 sq" of sail and it handles that load, and the 785 has more power than it does.
