One tip I’ve used to remove old covering when the color stays on the wood,is to get a strap of new covering and apply and remove.This worked for me mostly:)Good luck with your project.

How do you do this with the 9x?.
Going through the setup menu ,I can see the option under wing type to use 2 airilon servos,which I have.
The tail setup does not have that option.How is this done?...

I have a new fg17 that I have broken in correctly per the manual,and have installed it in my plane.

I put a couple of washers on the bottom motor mounts will see if that works.
