RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Pulling out the tail retract I felt the same. At first look, it looked like they just copied Robart because they "look" the same. However, upon closer inspection, there is a bunch of things...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

I got the retracts in from Wingspan Retracts and they look awesome. I was very excited that the quality was as good as robart if not better.

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

So I don't have a cockpit in it yet and will soon. However, I'm not waiting on it to fly the plane. I found an old pilot bust in my shop that was "close" so, I stuck him in. It sort of works....

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

So its pretty much complete. All I will need to do is mount the gear when they arrive. I'm excited to have a simple plane that I can show up to the field with and fly the crap out of it. I decided...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Okay, so I can't stand the pitot tube that comes with this plane so with some of my own tubing and a bit of G-10, I made a real simple one. I used one size larger tube in the wing with a small earth...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

I was able to do some more detail work on the 47 over the weekend. I have a huge assortment of number "0" screws and decided to add a bit more detail with them. There are a tone of pictures online...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

WarbirdFan,

I haven't gotten them yet, but when I do I'll post pictures of them. I saw a set and was very impressed. The real proof will be when I get them though!

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Last picture for the night. I know that I'm going to get beat up from all my scale nut friends, but I've decided for now.....I will keep this one shiny. There! I said it. I NEVER leave a plane...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

I couldn't stop there. I had to attache the wings as well as the center fuel tank. Its pretty cool and very easy to install and take off. I also wanted to center the flaps. As usual, this plane...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

I've been able to get some more done to the plane. For some reason, I didn't see any hardware such as the clevises, etc. However, I could have misplaced the bag. It isn't a big deal because I...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Hey Michael,

I've also built a bunch of ESM stuff. I never really pulled the trigger on H-9 because it was so much more for what I thought was the same thing. ITS NOT! The quality and fit of...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Going from one end of the airplane to the next, I decided to start the tail. When I build an ARF, I like to get the fuse. complete, then do the wings. Everything fit nice with no gaps, etc. I...

RE: H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

The first thing I decided to do was install the engine and the fuel tank. It is so much easier to center everything when you can set the plane up on its tail and move the engine around. I decided...

H-9 P-47 with Wingspan Retracts

Well........Top Gun is over, and as many of you know it was a total bust under the Warbird Alley tent! 5 out of 6 of us smashed our airplanes. It wasn't pretty! Mine suffered an aileron servo...
