Back in business - new Shovelnose Hydro build

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I last posted, but what with the fantastic weather we've been having, I think I got the RC boat bug again. I came across this reasonably priced shovelnose hydro...

RE: large brushless cat project

Cheers Simon. Yes I bought the mystery ESCs, which from what I can gather are the same as super-simple ESCS - with the only difference that supersimple don't come in the 200A version. In any case...

RE: large brushless cat project

Well as you know I was waiting for the 200A escs. They arrived. Well 2 ESCS arrived with the 200A label, but one was very obviously smaller, with thinner wires and 2 circuit boards instead of 3 as...

RE: Kustom Killer Vee, My first airbrush job

yeah of course, colour schemes are subjective, since it's your boat, you have to like it, no one else....</p>

RE: Kustom Killer Vee, My first airbrush job

bloody good job for a first time effort!!!!! I would try playing around with a bit more contrast though, rather than simply blue, grey. black and white - throw in some orange and red in there too!!!!...

RE: MHZ Eco Flea - any tips

hi there...with that setup the thing should fly!!!! I'd go for a 2s lipo setup, at least 2000 mAh and 20c cells. Do you think you can set it up in such a way as to avoid installing a flood chamber?...

RE: help with motor upgrageding/mod

Hey there. This has been done loads of times, upgraded with a twin drive setup and two ESCs (in which case you need two hobbygrade escs, a new RX and TX, and a servo and rudder). or else, simply gut...

RE: large brushless cat project

Hey Gerwin, that's one of the reasons I changed from a single setup to a dual setup - will be running them on 4-6s max, but really only if I have to. As regards the ESCs, Norbique, i haven't tried...

RE: large brushless cat project

Here's the link to the speed controllers: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&amp;item=140300424435
watercooling them efficiently's going to be a bit of a headache - if...

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

did you epoxy in the transom bolts? useful trick that...in some boats I own it's a bloody nightmare to get an allen-key/screw driver in there. The only downside is that you can't use some of the...

RE: large brushless cat project

Hey buddy, I'm waiting for a new 2.4ghz unit to use in the cat, I should be picking it up later on today, and also a pair of 200A ESCs. I went for the Mystery ESCS, which as they say are a good bang...

RE: Norbert's 1.1m balsa cat build

looking good buddy....and the small one - that's quality that is.....excellent stuff - keep it up!!!! Is the hull bottom also balsa? if you want it to be stronger maybe modelling ply (1mm) would suit...

RE: large brushless cat project

hey Nor,

yes I'm using graupner props. 51mm for 4s and 47mm for higher voltages. I will use them to try and find the fastest/most reliable combination, then change to octuras with the same...

RE: large brushless cat project

worked on the cat this weekend. Fabricated the motor mounts, epoxied them in. Resprayed the canopy. Mounted a new rudder, because I needed the old one for the cyclone mono (i had borrowed it for the...

RE: large brushless cat project

my argument exactly for the twin setup. I really wanted the scale look and twin drives really do suit cats this size no? In any case, probably in the end it'll be almost as expensive as going with...

RE: need help from the graupner GTX800 outboard fans

Sorry about not seeing the vee....scanned your post too quickly ;-) I have no pics of the motor - as i don't have one, but perhaps someone here does. Came across these threads that might interest...

RE: need help from the graupner 800 fans

Depends what kind of hull you want. I don't think F1 tunnels would suit a double outboard setup. I'd go for a large offshore mono or cat, perhaps 90cm - 1.2 metre hull. Have a look at offshore...

RE: large brushless cat project

hmmmm...well badish news it is not. I have 47mm props and also 51mm props, so i'm hoping that with two of the monsters they should get the thing going... they are the L cans not the XLs, with 1800kv....

RE: need help from the graupner 800 fans

RE: need help from the graupner 800 fans

believe me when I tell you I've been there so many times i lost count....it's all part of it, for me anyway. If you really want to use your MMM, I still think you could....if you mount it as an...
