I think, that all problems is in the HV generator. Yes, self oscillator generator is a classic scheme and it works fine. Only I think we need to fulfill some conditions:

This only one problem in fly back converter: transformer. In this scheme we can use the stand by transformer from old ATX power module(EE-19N) It’s need 8v input and can provide output about 200v...

Gompy, I told you about fly back converter some years ago. I whant to say again: in our case this is the best scheme for HV converter. But this one is too difficult, look for this:

5v maybe not so good for HV converter(current too much). I think better 8.2v (2 LiPo) and use 5v LM for PIC. And from my experience flyback converter better scheme for charging HV capacitor instead...

As I see this is HOMELITE trimmer 28cc engine. Better chose is 16*8 prop. Max RPM as I remember is about 7400, not more.

The yellow code of T50-6 means “Iron Powder Cores”, not ferrite. You cannot use it in HV converter as a transformer
