Well if you do the Gear swap at the Same time, It'll give you More Top end (About the same as a + 2 Pinion).......But Just Removing the Extra weight and Rotating mass is worth it alone.....

Yep it get's rid of the High/low & Reverse Gears......& you can also do the Forward Only Gear Swap (http://hdrcvideos.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1608) for more top end......
