RE: Sig P51B electric + build

You get some much more performance with the two-blade using the Power 60. I wouldn't use the Power 90 as it adds too much weight for this plane's frame. You can get the same performance with the 60...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

There really is no gap on the top of the wing. You can adjust the flap trim to get rid of any gap as they will close until there is no gap. Maybe this shot will help?

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Scott,

Right, there's not much gap if you get the pin hinges pushed all the way into the wood like the manual shows. You can also adust any gap on the top our with some trim on the flaps too....

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

You must have a better cameraman than mine :D I can't seem to get mine in a low pass as it's moving too fast! We have a big warbird fly this weekend so I hope to get a lot of nice photos to post...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Yeap, got to love the way Sig set this play up! I wonder if the big H9 P51D flys as well?

Great photo Ed!

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Ed that's pretty close to what I am getting too. I get 1380 with 16-12 prop and a 6 minute flight. Plenty of power. I haven't flown in about a week here as the wind has been howling. Hope to get...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Yeah it''s a keeper for sure. I have landed it with no wind and in a 15 mph wind and it''s fine either way. I had a strong head wind last week while flying it and used full flaps on landing and it...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Ed, glad you enjoy it too! It''s become my favorite plane to fly. I am so comfortable with it now I don''t care what the wind is like or where I fly it now. :D

I keep waiting for a bad landing...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Ed,

It is worth the extra effort! It's a good thing to work on when you can't fly too. I have some Robart struts on order and will put new wheels and paint them up nice when I make the changes....

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

I need a better close up photo to show the detail. It looks great with all the panel lines.

Tim, stop worshiping me :) It doesn't help you get better deals on my planes if you kiss ***** :D

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Ed, you inspired me and since I couldn't fly last weekend, too busy and too windy, I did some work on the P51B. Added panel lines and dull coat to it and think it looks real nice now. Thanks for the...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Good luck! I had to add 1.25 oz. of lead under the tail for my CG to balance out. If it's too nose heavy a long prop will be even worse when taking off. Looks great! Let us know when you maiden it...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Ed,

I don't think your 18" prop will clear the ground when the tail comes up. You may want to check this. Mine is very close to a prop strike using a 16-12 prop. I am running a 6S pack and...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Congratulations on your flight! This plane is a reall keeper and will soon be your favorite airplane :D I can't fly it enough. I usually get 4 or 5 flights on it every time I take it out and would...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Richard,

I haven't had any issues charging pack, but have had some damaged on crashes. I had three big planes crash due to Spektrum "brown outs". I lost the battery packs on two of them as they...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

NoFlaps,

I saw your radiator door and it would definately help cool the battery. I get good air into the fuze through the cowling as I added a bunch of holes in the fire wall for this reason,...

Tim,

Thanks for the kind words! Always glad to help someone out. I wish I had some help and advice when I started flying. I would have saved a lot of money and time :D Ready to do some filming...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

How do you like the Do-217? I always thought it was a great looking plane and have wanted one of the Sig kits. Is it a glass fuze or built-up? Yeah, Sig's got my business too. They have been great to...

RE: Sig P51B electric + build

Evil,

You will love it! It's one of the best flying warbirds I have flown out of the box with no alterations, other than it's electric. It has that solid warbird feel on the ground and in the...
