Think in terms of a real car where 6 cells = "4 cylinder economy car" and 7 cells = "8 cylinder gas hog". You get more power but less mpg from the 8 cylinder car, but if you drive the 8 cylinder car...

According to the Castle tech I talked to awhile back the Sidewinder and the Mamba will perform exactly the same on a 2s lipo or less. You don't need a Mamba if you don't plan on running 3s.

I've been running a MM/Velineon on 3s lipo for about 3 months now no problem. I even tried to strip the spur by tightening the slipper all the way and driving stupid but it still wouldn't break.

If it's within your budget you should order a 3s lipo to get the most out of that VXL. A 6 cell nimh will make it go but a 3s lipo will make it fly.
If you do order a lipo you'll also need a lipo...

The Super Duty XR is rated for up to 4s lipo so no problem there. I don't know what kind of motors you're running but twin Traxxas 12t Titans can handle 4s with no problem so you'll probably be ok.
