RE: Shipping GREIF!

Last year I looked into shipping a large scale bird from Germany and ran into the same problems. I actually found that I could buy a round trip airline ticket cheaper than they wanted for shipping...

RE: GWS F4U Corsair Slope Soarer Help

You balance it at the wing root (beside the fuse). GWS planes are not the best slopers. Light, draggy and structurally weak is not the best combo for the slope. Stick a motor in it and then buy a...

RE: First Scale Glider??

I have both those kits and the Discus is by far the better of the two. They are nice looking kits but the quality is not great and they do have a few issues that you really should fix. The primary...

RE: First Scale Glider??

For a first scale glider the HF models DG-1000 is a great plane. It's easy to build and it's a super flyer. They are not hard to fly but scale planes do fly quite a bit differently from a Spirit....

RE: Discus how much of stab negative incidence?

I set mine at zero degrees and it flies nice on the slope. I think if I were thermal flying it it would need a degree or two as mine requires a little elevator when I get it slowed way down.

RE: FOX II slope glider?

I have one of the electric versions of it. The kit itself is decent for the price. There are some issues with it as you would expect for the cost and where it comes from. The main problem is the wing...

RE: X-models mini Blade DS

The standard Mini Blade is light and fairly fragile. But then it's designed for light winds and it flies well in those conditions. The Carbon Mini Blade (DS Version) is much more durable than the...

RE: CMPro Discus 2.6m

There's a long thread over on RC groups on this plane. Yes you need to strengthen/replace the wing tubes, and the wing rod unless you are going to be very gentile with it. There is significant wing...

RE: CM Pro Discus CS

Well I did get my stainless steel 6mm rod I have installed it in the plane. I bent a few degrees of dihedral into the rod and the plane looks much much better. No more old saggy's. I did not think I...

RE: CM Pro Discus CS

Most of the hardware is adequate. I did end up replacing the clevices and I made my own carbon fiber control horns but the ones that came with it looked fine. I just prefer my usual hardware. The...

RE: REAL PSS

There's plenty of scale PSS planes over here. We just don't fly them much cuz we don't have those nice grassy hills that you have. Unfortunately there just not many of us willing to build a nice PSS...

I bought one also and mine has a long list of problems. Well made it ain't!

Both wings had copius amounts of washout, one has 6 degrees and the other had 8. One of my molded wing tips had a huge...

RE: X-Models Blade 2m Carbon setup

RC groups is a great resource but also check the Soaring USA forums. They usually have the best information in setup for the popular planes that they sell.

Here's the link to the forum for the...

RE: 4 Meter Fox. Servo questions.

Mine is the S2G kit. The kit was decent, especially for the price. It's not got the quality of a $2000 kit but then again it's not got the cost either. The glass fuse is nice and the flying surfaces...

RE: 4 Meter Fox. Servo questions.

I used 141s because I had them. I would probably use the newer Airtronics 94761s if I were building another one. I don't think you can get those in the UK though. Just use good quality servos and put...

RE: 4 Meter Fox. Servo questions.

I have a 4 meter Fox. At that size the wing is not thin and you can put in just about any servo you want. I would suggest something stout for the ailerons as they are huge and will require a decent...

RE: Need advice on a soarer

"Fast, aerobatic" and "HLG" are not usually the same plane. HLGs are usually slow and rather tame. If you want a light sloper that is fast and aerobatic then look at a Baudis Banana, the X-modes Mini...

CR went out of Biz years ago. Somebody did buy the rights to several of the kits but has never re-released them. Probably because there are lots of better kits on the market now. With the exception...

RE: Effects of wing loading on slope-planes

There are many other factors that affect how much lift you will need. The efficiency of the design is very important. Efficiency comes from lots of things. The planform. As indicated already high...
