FWIW, standard verbiage from the IRS that goes into determination letters for those who receive a 501(c)3 status:



Of course these can be different, but I'm guessing the general rules/ideas...

The AMA can not tell any club how they must be organized. There are clubs that are not organized as (7)'s, and there are clubs that are organized as (3)'s ... that is irrelevant to any of this.
