I can only echo Jeff's sentiments about planes and practice. Lots of practice with an airplane you're familiar with will make more difference than any new airplane.

I've personally flown nothing...

Here's one that I just picked up last weekend at the Southeastern Model Show in Perry, GA, for $10. It had a ton of dust on it and it doesn't have all the plane stands but I wouldn't use them anyway....
