The Fin is BIG , but the rudder is small ..Direct X wind 5 to 7 mph until you "get the feel" of the aircraft , take off's not the problem as you have 100 % thrust, ITs the landings .....for right now...

Maybe your putting stress on the fan shroud. use a feeler gauge to check distance from blades to housing. I've been using the 5012's and have had no issues . When you attached the thrust tubes maybe...

FWIW I would wrap some carbon fiber towing around the inlet ducks, The BVM fans really SUCK, and just might colaspe the inlets . Did you use the inlet ducts that Joe S provides in his kit?...

FWIW I think you'll be real pleased with the performance of the BVM 5012,s They IMO are the BEST Fan unit out (Have no experience with the Stumax). I use two of of the 5012 in a BVM F4 Phantom, What...
