Ideally, the plane should stall just as the wheels touch. It sounds like you're coming in too steep and flaring too high and it's dropping in. Come in at a more level attitude but with the nose...

On the full scale plane, those are trim tabs. On a model, you can install them in a fixed position to maintain the scale outlines. They will have little or no effect on the flying characteristics...

On the engine, if it pulls hard to the left when the throttle is quickly increased, then you need more right thrust. However, with that big engine it's possible you already have too much right...

Let's see if I remember this...we hooked one servo to the aileron channel and one to the flap channel and mixed the two, then slaved the whole mess to the elevator so the flaperons would operate...

The advantage of flaperons is it simplifies building and linkage installation. The disadvantage is it degrades the function of both the flaps and ailerons. Separate flaps require two more servos...

I like using a Z bend at the servo arm and an adjustable nylon clevis at the control horn. I make the Z bend using a pair of Z bend pliers so it's nice and square and tight.

Yup, looks like a dirty or worn out servo to me, too. They're usually not worth trying to clean and you'll probably never get all the dirt out. Scrap it.

Also make sure it isn't leaking around the needle in the valve body. I believe OS has a small O-ring in there to prevent that.
