Back in the late 1960's Chrysler built some similar boats. They had a deep center hull, with 2 shallow hulls to the outside - they called it a "hydro-vee" hull. My dad had one when I was a teenager. It didn't really go fast enough to notice any improved handling, it may have made a difference...?

Here's a pic of the type of boat:

I've seen these pictures before and I think they are somewhat stylised renderings of an Italian three pointer from the sixties. There was a series of experimental high speed racing/record boats placing the sponsons aft. John Cobb's Crusader was pretty close to that configuration.
I believe I've seen somthing like it from Australia as a small high speed car ferry with a water jet in each pontoon/sponson.

The video is only a slideshow of still images, so here is the image at 0:31 into the video that eboat was talking about.

I know how frustrating it can be when stuff is blocked from Canadian IP addresses, so I hope this helps.

@bijou

Problem:
When I try to look at it, is says in my country SONY denys the video to be played due to copyrights. Therefore it can only be because of the music used.

Solution:
If someone is able to re-place the video in there WITHOUT the music, we might be able to watch it as well.
And I´m not into illegal stuff like downloading music with copyright violation.
Laws need to be kept up.

Suggestion:
Just have a look around and check, if you find somebody who is willing and able to do that for you ( for us).

That pic in the post from Stinger9d9 is of a Wallypower 118 but it's not a trimaran. The things on the sides are actually airintakes for the 3 gasturbines

Idealist - I just said that the boat in the pic in stinger9d9 was a wally and that it wasn't a trimaran.
If you read bijous answer to stinger9d9s post you will notice that he actually asked about the name of that boat.

But maybe I just mixed it all up. Let bijou decide if my post helped him or not and if it didn't I am truly sorry for that.
