I'm having trouble finding a link to the walker or the outrunning do any of you know one?
What shaft size is the Graupner jet sprint/what jet does it use? Is it the same?

Sometimes being an adult kicks ass...
The local public pool has this cool kids area that's all circles, and figure eights and the likes. Essentially a perfect Tear Into jetsprint course, indoors. After work tonight I was sitting here at my desk, and thought 'why not eh'. So I rolled up in there, and showed them the boat, told them what I wanted to do and... They closed the kids pool for 15min, and watched me fang it around!
It wasn't the outcome I was expecting. Yay for awesome life guards.

RE: Unofficial
Well I have missed my Tear Into jetboat since I sold it a while back. It was one of the most fun, trouble-free boats in my fleet. And I love the roll bar 'handle'. Since they're again available, I decided to build one with all the knowledge accrued from these posts and my mistakes in the past. I kept the original servo mount in place and foam taped the new servo in. I velcro'd my receiver on top the servo to keep it up out of harms way. I removed the (hot-glued) jet drive and after cleanup, used 2-part plastic epoxy to fasten it back. That won't leak - now or in the future. I superglued battery mounting pads I made from plastic cut out from the top. I decided on [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11179]this [/link] Turnigy outrunner (2900kv, 28x42mm) which required widening the mounting holes (used a heated nail held with vicegrips) and a different [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-boat-flex-cable-joiner-2-3mm-3-18mm-/370441294267?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Radio_Controlled_V ehicles&hash=item56400591bb]connector.[/link] I also drilled two holes in the transom for easy access to motor mount screws, and covered them with clear hatch tape to keep water out. For esc coolant, I ground a taper on a brass outlet and mounted it in the stator housing with 2mm projecting into the water stream. This should catch an adequate supply of water - the outlet projecting up out of the top of the transom for that spurting effect that looks so nice. Finally, I applied some decals keeping the logo and green blotches intact. I haven't had a chance to run it yet, but will keep you posted.

RE: Unofficial
So my Graupner Jet Sprint (I know this is not a tear into but it's very close so I might as well post here about it) arrived!
It was very dusty; looked like it had been in storage for a few years. So i filled my sink up and it floated in there while i washed it.... The original owner had done some evil things to it, like used sticky tape as a guide for his paint and then left the glue from the paint on the boat... this was real hard to get off and some of the paint came off too!
I'm ponding what motor I should use, i'm thinking of using this http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=11179 on 4 cells what do you think?

RE: Unofficial
3 cells is all the jet drive will handle; 4 cells will spin the prop far too fast to make it efficient at pushing water through and will just churn up the water and create a lot of air bubbles

RE: Unofficial
Hi guys, I'm new to all this. I just got my little jetboat in the post from the states!! Yay!! So time to upgrade!!!
This is going to be my new setup:
Motor: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=4194
ESC: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=7377
Servo: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=9621
Water Cooler Jacket: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=12688
Battery: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=6306
Radio Gear: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=10608
Battery: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idproduct=6306
Charger: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=10946
I have some questions that may seem dumb:
1) Whats the BEST way to drill into the stator for the water cooling intake?
2) Will all the above work together okay?
3) Does the:
motor connect to the ESC.
ESC to Rx and battery.
Servo to Rx.
Battery to Rx.
Battery to ESC.
4) Will all the connections be "correct" or do I need adapters?
5) Anyone got any good tips/ideas for a grill ?
6) What size inner diameter should I get for the water cooling tube?
Thanks guys! Appreciated.
Tim

RE: Unofficial
Ithink it looks excellent.I'd pick the cheapest servo though. This one for instance.
For the hole in the stator Ijust twirled the drill bit between my fingers carefully. The plastic is pretty soft.
Just check the diagrams that come with the esc for the wiring, can't go wrong there. You might want to buy some XT60-connectors to the esc. Err... female Ithink?
Finally, congratulations! And Ihate you because you have summer down there while the ice is 10cm thick in our pond.

RE: Unofficial
I'm still using the original grill with no issues so far.
As for the cooling tube, I started with getting some standard fuel line. (Acorn Models on Manchester should hook you up, or Opawa Mowers and Chainsaws) Standard chainsaw fuel line fits the groove around the stock battery tray as a seal too - Hence OMC.

RE: Unofficial
Cool thanks for the info, I think I'll get my order into hobbycity. Theres somethings on backorder.....anyone know how long they usually take to restock? (Water Cooling Jacket)
Okay, so I'll dril a small hole into stator for the water intake, but then what do/can I use for to "tap" into the stator? some people mentioned a part of a clicker pen? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim

Anything tubular will do. If you want enough flow to shoot water out the outlet, grind an angle on the end and face it back into the jet drive. But that isn't necessary for it to cool things, just tapping into the drive will suffice. Any 'tophat' looking part will do nicely, such as a rivet with the core removed, or the clicking mechanism of a pen.

LOL, I love the ending. It really shows the amount of work we do filming our rc! Very well done, subscribed!
