RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
So the xt60 connectors are better than deans?
My charger is deans too but I was thinking of making
a jumper from deans to xt60 to charge them.
Also where do you put the antenna from the rx, or
should I get the 2.4ghz system from hobbycity?

If you don't have a lot of baterries with Deans to use and plan to buy other from HK, you should look for XT60. Replace connector on ESC or make adapter cable.
Also for me XT60 are better to connect/disconnect.
You don't have to get 2.4GHz from HK, but I think it's good idea. I have bought HK GT2. It works well. I placed receiver in 2 small plastic bag with 2x 20cm servo leads and antenna cable coming out. And I placed antenna at the left inside the hull. Stock steel antenna lay with manual

I bored a hole on top, the size of an antenna tube.(Tight fitting hole, you don'twant it loose)
Pushed the antenna in, then usedclear epoxy to glue it inside the hull.
The 2.4Ghz is good. Yura seems to be ok with the GT2. I'm using Spektrum.
I chose the DX3S (DSM) simply because it has telemetry. But they came out with a marine version . . .
and it's compatible with DSM and DSM2 Rx's. They alsohave an entry level radio - DX3E.
You don't really need all the bells and whistles in a boat.
Here's the picture of the relocated antenna.

The flexshaft was spinning in the collet so I tried to tighten the small
screws and almost stripped them[:@] What size are the screws so I can
go the HS and get some good ones..thanks.
Also how do you get the flex shaft out. It won't slide out.

Can somebody please measure the motor shaft and flexcable diameter?
I don't have a caliper so I can only guess.
Looking to replace the coupler with a collet type.

Carakter, are you still waiting for your maiden run?
Carakter, are you still waiting for your maiden run?
The nearest decent pond I can go to is an hour and a half away from me. . . .however, there is this small pond I can go to. . .
actually it's the City Hall pond . . . but they use the pond water forthe plants and the grass . . .so the level gets down quite a bit.
I will try again this Sunday and hopefully, the rains replenish and raise the water level.
I'm feeling so frustrated. I have this boat all ready to maiden . . and all I can do right now is look at it.

that's frustrating, yes!
But I guess that just by looking to it, you start thinking about mods. just to be busy with the boat
But, when you start running it in the water you just concentrate on running it!than the mods will be repairs only. (allright, maybe you start testing some batteries and motors)
Are you going to run it on 3s or 4s? and with upgraded esc and motor or stock ones?

Right now it's all stock.
I have the 4200Kv outrunner in the bag and the Octura props coming in.
I will see how far I can go with the stock esc.
I will be using the 2200mah 3S nano-tech.
As stated, I want to replace the motor coupler , can't find a collet type though.
This type squeezes the cable, much like how you mount a drill bit in a electric drill.
What we have in the Bolt right now is a staight coupler which uses grub screws to hold everything.
I am also looking at getting a sponson turn fin to aid in the fast corner turns.
Like the image below from OSE . .
Hopefully I can maiden it this Sunday.
My boat buddies are all busy right now so that's not helping me to get motivated and make that 1.5hrs. drive to the big pond.
Oh how I wish I also had a pond beside me!

Don't use anything permanent. You will destroy that thin FG hull!

The lake, where I can run it now is 160km away And it takes about 2-3hours driving to it.
(I need real boat to swim for Small bolt if flipped because it's quite cold water now and there it is)

Whooowww!that's quite a distance. When I had to drive that distance I definately NOT bought a boat.
50m from my house is a small ditch. and 5mins away there is a big lake! And in the whole area are lots of ditches and little lakes in the park.
The letter A in the picture marks my house. you see the little ditch in the cirkle and the big lake on 5 min's traveling. on the left there is the area where I took the video

Why NOT?
If you already have this opportunity to spend time at the countryside (village).
Doesn't matter how far it is.
Why not to buy another toy to play with?
I can say more I go with helicopter+airplane+boat

@Yura - I concur with nickster . . . Wow!
And here I am complaining about the driving distance! Gotta hand it to you Yura . . you're one dedicated boater!
@nickster - ok stop already! You don't need to rub it in . . . I am just dying with envy here about you being so close to a lake!

I powered up my boat and would like to know if it is normal for the motor to hesitate
at first and then spin faster. I hope that explains it somewhat.

Was it in water or bench testing?
By hesitation, did you mean you gunned it and it took a while to wind up?
Or did it cog (stop-go-stop-go) until it eventually spinned faster?
Normally (bench testing), you press the trigger and it spools up fast.
