Hi All
I am very proud to report that the Burger Bone II outboard F1 gas leg has taken its second gold overall for the day.
This is now twice in a row....
I wonder if we are on to something here????
This has been a long two year R&D and finally seeing some results was very rewarding
see you all at the Nats

Tiekie yes your leg is now working much better. Too bad the hull you have can not utilize the potential of the leg better. Good running though.

Hi Cobus !

If Tiekie is still using our YPC hull - I am very confident to say that our YPC hull has 'more that proven it worth' to many many folk - all around the world - as well as to 99% of those racing F1's in SA Currently
I would go as far as saying that our YPC hull could well be the most raced, driven F1 Gas hull in the world at the moment.

Perhaps you should offer Tikkie - your DOMIHATOR hull - to realize his legs full potential !

Please keep me posted.

Hey Tiekster

That is great news - I'm truly happy for you - thinking about it - its been almost 'four years' since you have had a good run with the F1 gas. You deserve the medals...............
With the numbers picking up at CMBC - I hope you get some good racing in for 2012 - and have a great NATS.

I have retired myself from racing Gas - so wont be on the START line at the 2012 NATS

As they taught us in the Army ' Kyk Noord' - I'm a futures man.

Because of that:
I am spending my time and money this year R&D'ing HVFE ( High Voltage Fast Electric) Large Scale F1 outboards
Fortunately - our YPC hull and ENIGMA CAMBER leg work well with the HVFE - so most all R&D is only the power source. - should have it wrapped up within the next two months.

I have come to the conclusion that overall- the 2 stroke route is to limiting ( very restrictive) in its usage opportunity, especially when considering the cost of the investment.
With the Bigger Brush less motors and high Amp ESc's available now - and with prices being much the same as gas- HVFE is a far better investment option, offering far more venue usage options - therefore a far better return on ones investment.
I have had quite a bit of interest from many folk who have indicated that FE will be a great option for them as they can run the boat most any ware - public parks - holiday resorts - picnic areas - you name it - There is even a YouTube Video of a guy running his F1 electric in a water way in the 'middle of town' .......LOL
And !
if you have a 'self righting tank in your boat - you dont even need RESCUE - and you can carry on racing once the boat rights itself - NO DNF.......LOL- daar is nou n' ding...............

We are still supplying the Gas Products - but know that their is plenty to offer folk with the HVFE setups.

Hey ! - I do my R&D in my back yard now ............................. dis Lekker. Standing on our Jetty in my 'backyard'. My neighbors love it !

All this - Not to mention the awesome 'instant power' and great speed HVFE offers. 90 km/h plus. all it takes is a battery !

I am also currently developing two other 'electric' rc products - which are also very exiting for me - so our YPC motto for 2012 is " GO GREEN !" hence the GREEN boats - ready to be equipped for Racing - once our R&D is complete.

Its going to be interesting later in year when we move to our new dam - to see the HVFE's F1's race against the Gas F1's - It will be a great comparison opportunity.

All the best once again for the NATS !

Regards
Dominic (YPC)

Hi Cobus,
Thanks for the link, thats a really nice boat!! I will pm you to get more detail for sure.

Has anyone heard from La-tiff??? I have been wondering how his F1projects have been coming along.
My plan is to go and watch some of the oval racing tomorrow, its being held over three days according to the calander, maybe I will join their club(its the closest but still a distance) but would like to check it out first. Hopefully there will be some fellow F1 lovers!
All the best,
Dion

Hi guys,
Well made it to the oval masters yesterday and it was a great day weather wise and met some very friendly boaters there that were all very happy to chat, some had travelled a few thousand km to be there so there was a really good turnout with many spectators. They had a very nice control/pilot tower that impressed me. I was hoping to see a few F1 boats with the gas motors but there were only the 7.5 & 3.5 s and they were on short supply in my opinion. Some really nice boats there though. I did not get to spend the day there but will surely go back and the bonus was the partner, she loved it and was in chatting to the guys and learning the different hulls and so on. Some really sweet set ups when it came to their trailers too, big $ investments everywhere!! Glad I went and ment the friendly folk and all asked when I was joining when I told them I already have a running boat- are you joining the club? So I got my forms.
This is the best I could do for tunnel pics

Hi Dom
Thanx for the kind words...has it been four years already!!!
It is a pitty that you are pulling out from gas though..
You got us all exited about F1 gas many moons ago and my aim was to race you competetively
Compared to you I am still in infancy....
I have the equipment now, but is way behind on driving skills. You need hours and hourson the water to achieve that as you very well know

What was your saying again?? Have a Gas !!!
I wonder what it is going to change to now?
Good luck with your latest R&D project
tiekie
PS: will miss you at the NATS....
You cant realy say you are the best until you have beaten the best!!!

Morning Tiekster !

Appreciate your reply - meaningful to me.

Unfortunately - Time waits for no one !......................... seasons come and seasons go...............................progress leads the way!

Having said that - you are always one of those competitors that makes a race that much more exiting, competitive and rewarding when/if winning.
I certainly have had the privilege of racking up hundreds of hours piloting the Gas F1's, but you ceratinly have your own share of well seasoned experience and accomplishment.

My new motto is simply 'Go GREEN' - meaning - Go electric and enjoy all the benefits - more venue usage opportunity - great clean awesome power - help with the Global plight of reducing the worlds pollution problems.

or GO GREEN - wish you had one...................................LOL

Have a great NATS - its sure to be a success yet again !

Perhaps you will join us at the new dam ( the Stellenbosch dam we had a NATS at many years ago) - beautiful venue. We should be up and running their April month end.
See how the GAS compares to the Electric........................................?

GO GREEN !

Regards
Dominic (YPC)

Hi Ron
Thanks for the 'Thumbs Up' its always a pleasure.

When you are ready to get it wet - show us some final pics and I'll see if I can add any further set up value.
Keep the lower side of the drive shaft housing unit level with the bottom of the running boards for starters.

Keep us all up to speed with the build.

Hi Cobus,
It is a nice lake, there is more to it as well, you can only see half in the vid-much bigger than the one I have been using. A shame it is so far away. The hills you see in the background I have to drive around to the far side and then I am half way home!! But it is almost worth the drive and membership.

Hi Dom,
Happy b'day!! Looks like you got some good presies there-I want one!! will be great for what you are doing, great stuff-I've been watching from afar.

Dave-any luck sourcing K&B stuff?

All the best,
Dion

Happy Birthday Dom.

You'll love the go-pro, I've been playing with one and they work really well on the boats.
Lash out and get the suction cup mount makes it easier to switch between boats, I haven't tried it on the outboard yet
but you can see i few on some of my other boats that I've posted on the site.
ps. I have tied a length of string to it and then to the engine rails just incase.

Would any of you guys use your OB in salt water?????
If you do what extra steps you take to looking after the motor and leg.
fogging the motor... flushing everything out. washing everything of with warm fresh water then oiling everything up.

All my buddies from Malta are running in salt water.

Never heard any of them about that as an issue.

Send me a PM/mail and I'll bring you in contact with one of them.
