PM Grant Ed, he got a Berrylium prop for his, the guy he got it from even sharpened it for him. it's designed for the 18 engine's torque & rpm. it handles really well. he's running an OS 18.

I use an Octura X-435. It was prepped by mark at props 4 U. I can recommend this prop.

There is no such thing as "break in fuel" in nitro. The best fuel to break your engine in with is the normal fuel you will use. I also recommend 20%. I used 30% for a while but it made the engine very, very sensitive to needle settings.

heat cycle it if you can & don't listen to HH. also set your turn fins up straight otherwise you will spend a bit of time upside down(clamp a piede of straight wood to them & set them up parallel to the keel line & set the ride fins flat to start with). if you end up flipping it, bring it back in & start it up straight away after you have cleared the water out of the engine. other wise you'll have a hell of a time starting it later.

I just got a NH a couple weeks ago and finally have it tuned and running on 20% fuel. After installing a new prop on it I got about 6 minutes of run time before the prop blades just broke off, leaving me to go retrieve the boat from the middle of a lake. Has anyone else had trouble with props breaking and is there any sort of break in procedure for new props to increase their life span?

Thanks

You might be tightening the prop nut too far. Take a sliver of fuel line (about 1/8" thick) and put it between the prop and prop nut. That will keep you from putting too much pressure on it and it'll work like a lock washer.
I'd advise that you buy a metal prop for it, they don't cost that much.

What is a good metal prop to substitute for the stock one? Also, if I go metal, are there any sort of things I need to do differently before running it?

Try the Octura X-432 or X-435 on it. The only things that you'll have to do is to sharpen and balance it/them which isn't too hard with small props.

Hi Wave Waker, I saw your videos on YouTube. I notice it was bouncing all over even though the lake was pretty calm. Did you ever fix that problem? I see they were posted a year ago. Perhaps you could post some new videos, because if it runs like that I don't want one, but other's I've seen, they glide real smooth on the water. Thanks.

Gidday everyone

I just finished reading the whole thread.....
Some very intreresting idea's.

I received my secound hand Yello Nitro Hammer in the post yesterday.
In very good nick, except for the idiot who sold it to me left a whole tank of Nitro in it and the fuel line came off and everything is coated in Nitro including transmitter.
And a few hours of cleaning the sticky tape from the hull where the bubble wrap was.

I watched some of the video posted here and cann't wait to try it out.

Does anyone know if you can buy an original sticker kit of the Hammer?

Here are a few pics of my other RC boats.

Tower Hobbies should have the decals in stock or try your Aquacraft distributor in Oz for them.

hi there,

i really set it up to run like a dragters or bashing i would say...but if u like to have a smooth ride try to make the trim tab a lil' bit bigger and angled it until the sweet spot is found just my 2cents...but just remember with v-hull chine walkin' is norm...

Hi Everybody,
I’m new here and I’d like to know if someone tried this before.
When I bought the Nitro Hammer I was pretty disappointed. The tank wasn’t air tight, and the low speed needle was so tight that the boat wouldn’t run at all when I took it out of the box. It was my first boat, after several nitro buggies, so I wasn’t aware that this boat couldn’t stand still and idle in the water. Also I didn’t know that it only has cooling for the engine when it’s moving. So before I even broke in the engine, I took the boat apart and customized it to my expectations.
First I put in a clutch from a buggy that I modified with an aluminum part, so that I can connect it to the shaft.
Then I put a nitro fuel pump in there to have cooling of the motor at all times.

It all works well and it is fun and easy to drive.
