It usually takes me about 3 or 4 weeks before I'm comfortable with a new helicopter. Not so with the Pro. It installs so much confidence when you fly it. The PRO is by far the best flying 450 I've ever flown. Controls are crisp and tight. extremely stable too.

I was feeling over-confident two days ago and tried something completely out of my league. I tried a pyro flip just for the hell of it.

Man did it hit the pavement hard. The $200 repair bill got me back on earth. I still have some spares left over.

It looked so bad I did not even want to remember what it looked like. Yep, its cherries is defintely popped.

I got 5 packs ready to rock in the morning with the PRO.Cant bloody wait either. Now that the first crash is outta of the way, I can really hammer this thing.....

I ordered a spy-camera to mount on the Pro. It looks like a key fob but theres a cam inside that shoots 720x480 at 30 fps. It should be here any day now.

Sorry about your crash, T. Piro flips are so cool, though!

Is that the little camera from E-bay? I'm wondering because some dude had one hooked to his MSR-yes, MSR-and it did really well! Good luck!

yeah Scott.  just do a search on ebay for  "  key chain spy camera "  and buy these awesome gadgets for $15[X(]

Flew 5 packs this morning.  If there is one word I can say about the trex 450 pro is AMAZING!

on the v2...the most I can squeeze out of the pitch was -/+ 11 degrees.   You can up to -/+ 15 degrees on the pro.   I'm at 13 currently .   This thing shoots up like a rocket and the tail is still locked solid.

I have never used expo before but on this heli i'm at 20% on expo for rudder, aileron, and elevator.

I like hate the stock canopy.  its so blah.   a fusono is on the way along with kbdd paddles and tail blades.  orange me thinks

cool... you will instantly fall in love with it Scott.  your wife will be jealous.

I almost ate it this morning.  My tail started to wag for no reason.  even after reducing the gain it just continued to wag.  on the bench I found the screw align loctited into the tail grips was loose.[X(]  it was half way out.   I had check this screw before and it was tight.  I guess the align did not use enough loctite on those 2 screws.   Moral of the story is dont trust the loctite align preassembled parts.  take them apart yourself and reapply the loctite as needed.

Oh. yeah she's purring like a kitten.   I almost had the balls to do a couple of inverted forward flight but thought about the last crash and changed my mind.    maybe next time? lol

Hey T,

The shopping has begun. Best black friday deal will be taken.

Yeah, you gotta watch Align. But it's great you caught it. Tail in, that could have been deadly. Nice catch!

Thanks, T! I'm really looking forward to it. I'm gonna see if I can swing a Sony Webbie and make some sort of hat cam. I also ordered a Fusuno canopy for it since the sky here in winter is seldom blue and snow is white... well, not the piles next to roads... I figure I'll need better visibility.

I'm a happy camper!

T, that was soo cool! The little camera provides great quality. I'm impressed... maybe that instead of the webbie! You know, I've seem much worse vibration on in-flight video, bro. But, here's what I would do to help with the vibrations.... I'd mount the camera with Gyro foam - probably with the Spartan kit and sandwich the metal plate.... foam, plate, foam, foam tape, camera. That kind of thing... but all in all, very impressive, bro!!!

Hey Noob, do you still have your EXI450? How does that compare to the 450 Pro?

Isold off my EXI450 a couple of weeks ago. While the EXIflew very well it doesnt come close to the PRO. The big reason my EXIwas flying well is the fact that it had good quality electronics in it.

There was slop on the swash and a little on the head. especially in the blade grip area on the EXI. The head on the PROis solid. Mine had zero slop out of the box.

In my opinion a beginner should not get the PRO. the torque tube is not very forgiving to noobs. costs of ownership could be high. The 450 sport would be a better option.

couple of pointers Scott.   install the motor and set the gear mesh first before the servo install (you'll see why) .  use the small allen key in the kit for the elevator servo install.  go thru the opposite hole.  its tight but will fit thru.

Thanks, guys! Imay not be able to build it until after Christmas - it is a Christmas present, but we'll see if I can't get started this Friday. I'm really anxious, though... so we'll see.

Here's a pic of what came today.

The canopy is much brighter than shows up here.

Just out of curiosity - Does the Trex 500 ESP or Trex 450 Pro come partially assembled? It seems most kits Ihave seen are just a handful of mostly assembled parts that just have to be put together. The Trex 500 ESP looks like absolutely nothing is put together. I'm brand new, never tried it before (my sim should be here tomorrow) so I won't be building any time soom, but I'm still "shopping". I want so bad to get started building, but I am still too new to know what Iwant or need. I think when Iam ready though, I'd like to build a kit from the ground up - every last screw myself - I think I'll learn a lot more that way.

Hi Dave,

Align's philosophy is to put some things together so you can see how they assemble, screws loose, no thread lock. So, when you get a kit you disassemble, and reassemble every part with thread lock (where appropriate, metal to metal screws, bolts, etc.). It's really better this way because you then know everything about your helicopter. Ihad an RTF when Ifirst started and the learning curve for repairs was very steep. Knowing your helicopter from build up to first repair is the way to go.

How's the build going Scott.      I'll be interested in how you decide to route your wires.    Do make sure you sand and round  the edges of the frame.  Mine was way sharp around the edges.   When you get to the tail setup  do per stock instructions first , after setup than change to trailing edge control and reverse both the rudder channel and gyro direction.   That's assuming if you want to mod your tail per Bob suggestion.

I'll try and remember any more quirks I had during the build so yours will hopefully be a little smoother.
