What kind of a muffler are you using? I used the Keleo live stacks and the following:
Safeway 87 Octane fuel, Lawnboy 32-1 oil, about 85 degrees, and a 3W 22-10 wood prop, got about 6000 rpm. First gallon of fuel. With a Zinger 22-8 three blade prop I got about 5400. Switched to Safeway 92 octane and saw about a 200-300 rpm increase. Please keep us posted!

Today I was yard-taxiing my Spitfire and got the following results:
Safeway 92 Octane fuel, lawnboy 32-1 oil, 3w 22-10 prop, Keleo live exhausts. 6300 rpm peak, backed off to about 6200.
80 degrees, not much humidity.
Getting better with every run. This is only the start of gallon number 2.

DaddySam.
Will have more info tomorrow, I do the maiden flight on the plane.
The muffler is stock Supersonic from Aircraft International and its a little
loud for my taste.

Your numbers look good.

All,

Temp - 101
Wind 5-10 SSE
Humidty - 31%
Shell Premium - 98 octane
Oil - Penzoil Aircooled 32:1 Pertroleum based

5th run NIB
Prop - 3W-22x10 5400
Mtr temp - 190 + F
Not a very good set up quickly landed
Mtr was hot, too hot over 190 F.

6th run from NIB
Prop Forte 22x10 - 6000
mtr temp - 154 F
This set up is ok, on the verge of spirited performance. I am still very rich on the needles.
Motor drinks fuel like its coolaid.

7th run from NIB
Prop Zinger Pro 20x10 7400
Mtr temp - 184 F
Very good performance pulled unlimited vertical
good downline braking overall performance very good
This set up is loud, Had less than an ounce of fuel left when landing out of 22oz tank (650 cc)
flew for about 11 minutes including second range test that took less than 3 minutes as 1/3 throttle.

So far I am please with my 3W-50I, this motor pulls my 85" QQ Yak 54 very well and it will 3D once I get
the right propeller and needle settings. Right now the motor starts easy and runs nice and does not get hot.
Also I have yet to run a gallon of fuel thru the motor so it can only get better.

Till next time

This is my other 3w-50i, also with a Keleo live exhaust, this one the "three stub" Merlin style. Second tank of gas, 32-1 Penzoil Oil for aircooled engines, 3w 22-10 prop. 6100 with an idle around 1800.

Sam,
That is so kewl ! is this going in a TF P-51 or something else Merlin Powered ?

I gotta show this to Nick in our club, he has the TF P-51 with a DA motor and the same kind of exhaust, while not his first plane this will be his first gas plane. I want a warbird so bad but for the price of what Nick has in his TF I could buy a Comp-Arf 2.3 Extra and motor.

Warbird vs 3D
Warbird vs 3D

This is bound for my Vailly Hurricane. The twelve stub version on my other 3W-50i is in my Pica Spitfire, currently undergoing a wing replacement. Here's a few pics.

All,
I crashed the QQ Yak thru no fault of the motor just me being stupid. The 3W-50I has sat for three years and not run. I have been flying 80-100 cc planes and now I have finally come back to 50cc. Pulled the three dubya out and installed it in a new Wild Hare MX-2
and ran today on a 3W 22x10 wood prop.

Temp 80 degrees
humid 54%
wind calm
3W 22x10 wood 6600 almost 6700
idle 1600
32:1 Penzoil Aircooled

Also ran a DLE-55

Biela 20x10 three blade
6800
1600 idle

more 3W-50I pics

These not so good pics are the same engine different muffler system on a Cap 21 that it never flew on.
I took the good engine off and installed a Brave Heart 50 on it instead.
