Saito 65
Hi all, I've been playing with a Saito 65. Bought it used, putting it on a 3d 40 size plane. 20% fuel used.
MA14x4K- running strong at 10700 rpm. May have been peaked, but I thought it was running a little fast and didn't want to over rev it.
MA13x5K- pulled 10500 at same needle setting. Again, did not want to lean any further and risk over rev.
APC14x5N- 9980 peaked. This will probably be used for first flights.
MA15x4K- Any one try this one?
Just playing with this engine has maotivated me at the build table!
Any other 65's out there?

Keep the rev's down on that motor or you will blow it up. nothing over 10,000 static on the ground peaked. 12-8, 13-6 works well with that engine but you will need to do some experimentation to find best combo. The 65 has a low red line and a long stroke and a small carb so high rpm's do nothing, pulls real good in the low to mid 9's. Keep it a bit rich too or you will be an unhappy guy as well.

Thanks P-40, I was able to play with it a bit more with the APC 14x5N. Richened for flight will get it mid 9's. I had this on a Venus for two flights. I tried the 13x6 and 12x7 then, I think both those props will be way too fast for this new airplane.
Take care, MikeB

RE: Saito 65
Playing with this one again. I put a new ring and cylinder on and cleaned the valves.
10% with a little caster added, 65 degrees, APC 13x6, 14 oz through engine
9800 rpm
I am going to put this on my 4*40 just for the heck of it.
