I run this engine with a APC 16x6 and a Bisson pitts muffler and get 9700 with 10% PowerMaster. Anyone else ?

Good Day Gungadin,

The best prop I found running this engine was a 16 x 8 APC 10% fuel and turning 9400 peaked and about 88-89 to fly. This worked very well.. I would go with the APC 17 x 6 (At the time they were not out yet.) I would say a 16 x 6 is a bit light for this one..

Hope that helps.. alot of people don't like the TT engines.. I flew 250-300 flight with one I had and sold it and the fellow that bought it put another 200 plus flights on it.. He has since changed the bearings and reringed it.. and it's running strong again..

All the best

Riverdancer---I hear what you are saying about some people not liking Tunder Tigers. Some years ago I ran their 46 and 60 quite a lot and liked them both. This 120 has over 12 gal. of fuel thru it now and I am very pleased with it's performance. I tried a 17x6 apc also and my airplane prefers the 16x6. I set it for 9200-9300 on the ground which is 3 or 4 hundred off of max rpm and it gives me great vertical on my little IMAC airplane. Also gives me 1600 rpm idle very consistently. Can't beat that with a stick !!!

Hey there Gungadin..

Sorry I didn't reply sooner.. I usually check the notify box, must have missed it.

Glad to hear it works well for you.. I had great success with the one I had. You are probably right about a 16 x 6 being good for IMAC.. I was pretty limited at what I would do when I ran that engine.. I suspect you have a nice constant pull with that prop.

What level of IMAC do you fly..?

All the best.

Riverdancer--I'm new this year in IMAC and flying Basic. Made it to 4 contests so far this year and it never fails that someone comes over after I fly a round and asks me what kind of engine I have in my plane. Most guess it is an OS 160. It does a nice job on the vertical up lines.

10,500 rpm on a apc 16x6 sounds high. What muffler ?
