For the owners of the 8.0, another info tidbit. If you intend to install any other engine besdes the 8.0, you're going to need the engine mount also (4.6 style).

I'm convinced the 8.0 is nothing more than a re-worked airplane engine. Look how tall the block is compared to any regular nitro car engine. Whats with the big crankcase and widely spaced mounting lugs?

I thought when I pulled the head I would find a small piston with a long stroke, but holy smokes, that piston is HUGE!!! I didn't check the stroke but it must be awful short to equal .50 cu. in.

Yeah, I've had it with the 8.0[:'(]!

UPDATE: Put a Sirio 30 on the MGT. It was a known runner. It ran like crap too! Tried another known runner (Savage X K4.6), ran like crap too!

Seems like bad fuel. Bought another gallon ($40[:@]) and now everthing runs great!

Put the 8.0 back in and I love it! Now what do I do with 3/4 gal. of bad fuel?

The 8.0 is a great motor. Sucks about your fuel though.

Nah... the fuel was out in my shed all winter. The back of the shed faces east, and I quess the morning sun got to it.

I suppose the 1/2 gal. of airplane fuel is shot too.

Just mix it in with your used motor oil and discard it that way.

Just dropped a modded picco p3 .28 in to my MGT.  Problem after 3/4 of a gallon when shifting from 1st to 2nd I get what appears to be torque steer a hard veer to the right and have to let off the throttle some to correct.  Any suggestions on how to correct this?

8.0 transmission shift point is about 12-15ft

49t spur & slipper from 8.0 (Slipper all the way tight)

15t clutch bell

Shimmed diffs front 7k, rear 3k fluid

Pro-Line 40 series beadlocs with Bigjoes

Should I loosen the slipper and or shorten the shift point and not let the engine spool up before engaging 2nd?

I don't think an MMGT would even be drivable with an 8.0. You'd never be able to go over a quarter throttle without flipping it over!

mgt's rock. simple, durable, sharp design allows you to change ANYTHING on it at all. and p.s. the tires are beast who'd want to change them!!
