Traxxas Revo
Hi, im looking into buying a Traxxas Revo, and i was wondering what you guys thought about it. Positives, and Negatives as well. Or a link to a review would be nice.
Things im particularly concerned about:
-How reliable is it
-Key components
-Does it break alot
-Weak points
Thanks alot.

RE: Traxxas Revo
How long have you had it and any breaks? My current nitro is a piece and before i go spend a heap of money on a revo i'd like to research it a little.

RE: Traxxas Revo
OEM bodies crack kinda easily, Opti-drive is more trouble than it is worth, OEM charger is JUNK. Oter than that....they are tough. Finicky to tne sometimes, but ther ain't another truck out there I'd spend my money on.

RE: Traxxas Revo
The Revo is a great truck. Not sure it's the only truck I would buy, but mine has held up very well. The weak points are the arms (RPM arms fixes that for around $30) and the reverse gear in the tranny (about $12 to fix). Other than that, buy a spare body because mine get the total crap beat out of them. If you buy one, you will not be disappointed. It is the absolute easiest truck I have to operate. It is fast, handles great, jumps really good and controls easily in the air. Working on the truck is also very easy. Last Sunday we stripped a gear in the transmission. 4 screws, 2 set screws and a little wiggling and the whole tranny is out. Maybe 15 minutes and we were on our way to the LHS with the tranny to pick up a new gear. Stock parts are also cheap.

RE: Traxxas Revo
the a-arms (get rpms) are very weak
and the drive shafts snap apart like peanut brittle, which is probably good to prevent other parts from breaking, i'd get rpm arms all around and an extra set for the front so that when u send one in for a free replacement you have an extra, but don't upgrade the driveshaft because then you'll start breaking all kinds of other parts besides them that could be very expensive

I usually get 2 to 2 1/2 hours out of a single charge. I have not had any problems with the EZ Start. I did have my owb slip on me. Just took it out and cleaned it and all was good.

RE: Traxxas Revo
My advie: dont get one. Save your money up for a nicer more reliable RC car (Revo for example.) I have had my car for about 4 months and have driven it 4-5 times. I have yhad numerous problems and this is why i am looking into the Revos. Other people may say other wise, but i would suggest getting something as i said more reliable. But then again it all depends on if its your fist nitro or not. I learned almost all the ins and outs of that particular type of rc..so it did give me lots of knowledge, but i spent too much money in parts.
The night i got it 2 screws fell out..fortunatly i found them.

RE: Traxxas Revo
well I have had nothing but good luck with mine, except for when I try to use it for a boat at the beach, and when I hit the telehone pole , and when I tried to go throuht by friends 4x4 truck tire, and of all of these crashes the only thing that has broke is the steering, and I have replaced the front bulkhead 4 times, but these where all my fault, other then it being my fault I have no issues on my REVO.I did replace all of the under carriage maybe thats why....

RE: Traxxas Revo
i like mine i have had no problems with it except the opti drive it was causeing it to shift into reverse on its own and was blowing up my reverse gears in the trans but all i did was call traxxas up and they said because it was so new they would send me out the new gears for free. after this happened twice one of the tech peolple said they would send me a new opti dirve too and that fixed the problem and it cost me $0 to get it fixed and it only took like 15 minutes to replace the gears and get it up and running again.

May be I'm not so professional as all of you guys
I went through almost a gallon and didn't brake anything so far. I think if anything brakes I will just get OEM stuff from my LHS.
After motor done - I will be getting electric conversion. At least thats what I'm thinking.
And I want rear brakes

RE: Traxxas Revo
I've stripped a spur gear, and destroyed al the steel and aluminum hardware on a Tekno wing kit.....but I haven't actually broken anything on the REVO yet.
Unless you've installed a C/D....you have rear brakes????????????

RE: Traxxas Revo
Yep. Need CD together with it. Which is ok. I'm about tired of simply driving, now I want to play with adjustments a little and see how it will affect handling. To me it's got more "go" then I can handle with stock 2.5R engine.
Body shell is almost done on mine, but I don't have a wing to brake
I was thinking about tekno mount (looks cool), but no, thanks. May try that other plastic one (rpm?)
I will be getting that together with Nissan Titan body (which looks like most durable one)
