That’s a tough question to answer unless you define the aluminum being used.
There are lots of manufacturers who use "junk" aluminum or cast aluminum that is not nearly as durable as RPM plastic.
Then there are the manufactures who use 6061/7075 billet aluminum and the parts are machined and hold up well.

It depends what your driving and how you drive it. Personnally i think its good to have a combination of both aluminum and rpm.
Everybody likes the look of shiny metal though

For dependability, RPM control arms and shock towers. They allow a person to use the truck as designed without having to do alot of maintenance or repair.
I would stick with the aluminum lower braces and bulkheads for toughness and durability.
Just my 2 cents

ive been researching the same question... from what i was told from many people. go with aluminum bulk heads and the rest of the suspension components with rpm. unless you wanna a shiny truck then go with all aluminum...

The aluminum does look better though.

I concur. Aluminum is great for bulkheads, braces, and a few other things but when it comes to a arms RPM is the way to go. I noticed my maxx handled alot better also when I made the swap from aluminum to rpm control arms.
The aluminum does look better though.

Same point of view here..bulkheads, braces, good heavy duty roll cages/bars, and in some cases shock towers. As for the A-arms, RPM every day without question. For straight bashing, RPM. For some light bashing, messing around lightly in the back yard or at the beach, aluminum wouldnt be bad..but in the long run RPM still has my vote over aluminum..even the 6061/7075 aluminum.

Aluminum has its place. If you were building a pulling truck the extra weight of the aluminum would help get the power to the ground a little better and would look good too. As far as bashing and or racing, what i use for bashing is RPM A-Arms, Duratrax aluminum Chassis braces, and aluminum Bulkheads with RPM skid protectors in the front and rear. I may switch over to aluminum shock towers as well, only because i want more adjustability than the stock or RPM's can offer but i havent decided yet.

there are only a select few who produce good quality durable aluminum parts. RPM are excellent parts. I run their arms on my basher. That is until I get a set of UE EXT arms to put on it. IMO good quality 7075 aluminum holds up just as well if not better than some RPM parts.
here's my two rigs that I run...
basher:
racer build:
both loaded with aluminum but it is all UE parts which are IMO the best in the business.

rpm are cheaper, but not as strong as the titanium ones, and there a lifetime warranty as well !
The titanuim ones are designed to NOT break the shafts/pins that hold the upper and lower arms on, there is simply no other upper or lower arms in the world with as much testing as these titanium ones ! And that makes them THE best. Pitty the price is so redonkulasa !
yea yea l run plastic ones ! hahaha funny though. And l didnt realise they dont support traxxas anymore.
