The RCV engines are good. There is no reason not to use them if you want.
I have intentions of installing them, but where to order them, I heard that it take forever to receive them. do you know what they cost? and if there is a good place to order? I rely don't want to wait for too long.
Thanks for your reply.

Hello fellow B-25ers,

Has anyone used OS .70 4-strokes on your plane?

Thanks

The specs of the plane say .70 4-stroke on the engine requirements section. I am sure they would work quite well.

Myself, I'd do something a little more intensive and put Saito FA-90TS flat twins in each nacelle. Can you imagine the sweet purr from that setup?? A little bit more weight though then a standard 90 size 4-stroke, but not too much...but also a lot more expensive .
A found a site that showed a Wing Manufacturing B-25 being built with saito FA-90TS engines and that kit has 84" wingspan. I dont care for kits of that nature though, so the KMP would be my choice

Well I haven't test flown my B-25 yet and because of an accident I had two weeks ago, with a propeller on the plane....spend the better half of the afternoon, putting it together(at the field),running engines, checking everything out and then we were ready for the test flight...My buddy started the left engine, and then he was attempting to start the right one, and I was reaching across to assist him when it happen....My left hand engaged a 14" prop, and got it three times before it stopped..Anyway, had 35 stitches in it (index finger), and hopefully, tomorrow they come out..Still pretty sore....Probably another two weeks before I do some serious flying and am sure I can give a more positive report on the test flights...Am very confident the "Ruptured Duck" will fly...End of story............

HI guys:

We are also going to put out a set of pilots for the B-25. We're working on two pilots and a gunner for the front of the plane. We should have them ready in about 4 weeks.

Cheers[8D],
Andrew
Any word on that crew yet?

OK Guys, I maidened my KMP B-25 this past Sunday, all I can say is WOW! Super smooth flyer gentle landings, 2 OS 91 4c really provided unlimited power, and they weren't even broken in. Go for the better retracts, it's worth it. At 18 lbs this bird is a performer, can't wait to fly her again.

Hey, She do fly..after the first two flights, with a 'Nasty" left turn in it .finally got it to fly straight and level....the problem was ,I glued the rudders on with "Left" in them..resolved the problem by moving the stab LE (Looking at it from the rear) !/8" to the left, and adding a washer to the engines for more right thrust,...flys great....have to get my landings a little better..not going to use 'Full" flaps until on final..Tried them on the cross wind before final and it was a handful to handle..did manage to get it down in one piece...the 2 91- 4 strokes are enough power to fly the plane...beleive it can fly it with 2/3's throttle ..will try it next time out...Funny,but I believe the 'Ruptured Duck", is smiling.....am one happy camper..will post some pics later...

This plane can easily be done with electric brushless motors. However, the cost would be very high. The glow motors being used are in the .90 size range....so, you'd need outrunners that are rather large like E-flite Power 110($164.99 + at least an 80 amp brushless esc...Castle Creations 80amp is $159.99). Your over $300 per engine setup. Same basic price as a really nice .90 size 4 stroke, but, you now still have to power those motors with some hefty batteries. You'd need several large sized lipos and each of those are going to run about $300 or more each(quality batteries like Thunder Power...ie. one 5S3P 6000 mAh 18.5V costs $329.90 and you'd need at a minimum of one per engine) whereas the glow fuel is $15 per gallon.

As far as where to mount the batteries, the plane is large enough to put the battiers anywhere. For weight in relation to how glow motors would be set up , you could put them right behind the brushless motor along with the esc's...this way they get plenty of air for cooling.

I dont think the cost is a positive aspect on this size of plane with electrics. Mind you, I have a lot of electric planes(including a smaller FSK B-25 48inch wingspan and a B-17 78" wingspan with four Power 10's). The battery cost alone for the B-17 I have is $400(5 x Thunder Power 2100 3cell)

Is it starting to get cold in Iowa? Very nice plane Jimmy. You used Saito .91 4 strokes? I know way overkill, but that new Zenoah G20EI gasser looks like it would fit well in those cowls, but might be a little heavy. It wouldnt sound as nice as two 4 strokes though(or even better...2 x 4-stroke twins )

KAHLOG:

No , not that cold in Iowa..still some good flying weather left...have some other planes I want to fly,so just going to weather it this winter and fly it next year..Using Mag 91 4-strokes...that is enough power for the plane..can fly at 2/3 throttle with no problems...the gas engines you mention, would be to heavy...if you were to build a 100"-110" ws B-25,then i say gas engines would be OK..alot of tail weight would have to be added, if used on the KMP B-25...going to try to add a few more pics if I don't screw up...

Here are some pics from this season. The bomb drop is a real crowd pleaser. Love the way this plane flys. Saito 100s, spring air retracts, weighs in at 21.8 with full bomb load.

Not sure exactly, I purchased them used. They look very similar to Robart 630 series, but I think they are Sierra's. Have 5/8 struts on the mains, and 1/2" strut on the nose.
