Idigbo your HP 42 is absolutely stunning!
Idigbo your HP 42 is absolutely stunning!
I had the motors in the HP42 running the other day, took a fair bit of tuning to get the old Zenoah 22 petrols to swing those scale props. The props are doubled up, one in front of the other to make four bladers as per the full size, 17" x 8"in size. I was worried they'd not be enough to pull the model off the ground, but now I am quietly confident, just need to invent some more time to get it finished.

Ian I must confess a real passion for the fortytwo's, such a stately and magnificient airplane. Its a wonderful challange as an RC airplane too. Please make sure you post vidio of the maiden or the early flights when ya finish her.
My stinson trimotor is actually a complete restoration of the prototype built to plans by a local here in kingman fifteen years ago and it was covered with silkspan and only flew once back then and untill last year rotted away in a loft above a motorcycle shop.
I am finishing up this year another that I built to these plans and probably the only one ever built to his original plans. This prototype somehow fell into my lap when the motorcyle shop closed down last year so could not resist doing the restoration and having a pair of them. Just got the engines for the second one a week ago.
Wingspan is 84 inchs
power is OS .25AX's
Weight is 10 lbs and two ounces
Here is a link to the first flight day and the first landing, Ten flights now and its tweeking into a real pleasent airplane:
http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnBuck.../0/LNjFdzdLHU4
Also a pic of the proptotype a little less pristine with my plans built one.

Here are a couple of shots of my Giant Scale Twins Aero Commander. 138" wingspan. Robart retracts. Running two Hacker A60-16L's with Meizlik 22 X 12 c/f props and Castle 85HV speed controllers. 2s12p 5000mah in each nacelle. Weights 49lbs with the lipo's installed. Power ratio is 147 watts per pound so it has lots of poop. Equal to if not more than two 50cc's. I have several flights on her and am very happy with it. I just need to finish the cockpit kit and add a little graphics to the nose section to complete it..........

Hannu,
The two years was well spent, very nice looking results. The size and motor selection are just right for my likings also. Again, a build well done, I like it!

BRAVO, gentlemen!!!
Well done all around.
Please post Pics of the B-17 when able!
I have a (Full-Scale) Seneca that looks very much like Hannu's in my hangar. If it was complete I could post some pics.

I'm slowly building a RCM Seneca. I have the wings, rudder and elevator ready.
With several modifications to the fuselage, I'm taking longer than I thought.
The original plans show 85 "wing span, which means a 1 / 5, 5 scale. I enlarged to 95", 1 / 5 scale.
Your Seneca looks really good.
How you solve the cowl?
Regards

RE: TERRIFIC TWINS (or MORE!) PICS - SCALE ONLY PLEASE!!!
Hi,
The cowl was intresting to construct, I´ve never done such a work before..first balsa block was glued to ready made nacelle, than shaped to size (a lot of dust..). Than the block was autopainted, than waxed with natural wax, than liquid epoxy film on it. Finally the whole thing was epoxed with Z-Poxy finishing resin and the mold was ready! The first cowling laminated was the hardiest to get out, but after some water and time it popped out of mold. So there might be better way to do it, but this worked to me. Almost as fun was making the windshield mold and bake it in oven..
The side windows were constructed on ready fuselage balsa surface, first warmed up and than hold to fuselage as long as cooled to the fuse shape. The fuse was also modificated, first I made the center section as a floor from tip to tail, than added bottom halfs of fuse formers and than upper formers. This way I hold the hole thing in straight and was able to use only half of total fuse formers. The servos for elevator and rudder was located after the wing. All the fun was worth building, but to much work if I consider afterwards.. Please send a picture of your project if possible!
Greetings, Hannu

While this does not come close to the wonderfully detailed workmanship displayed in most of the examples above, a nice photo (I think) of my son's F-22...thanks to a friend with an excellent camera....

Allright, it sure looks like seneca wing-keep on proceeding with the nice project..what comes to hinges, I solved "Piper" hinges by lasercutting in aluminum to get exact fit, otherwise to many small parts to do!

Never posted here before! I just completed a 84" Twin Otter from Ivan Pettigrew plans. It has not flown yet (winters here). It is electric, Turnigy 4240-900's on 3S 12/8/3 emps. AUW RFT is 8lbs8 1/2 ozs. Needs graphics ,and a little more detailing. This was my first scratchbuild from plans. Third build, all Arfs prior. Lots of hours in 72 days to this point. flytreetimes

RE: TERRIFIC TWINS (or MORE!) PICS - SCALE ONLY PLEASE!!!
Hi F82FAN: Thanks, been trying to find enough detail to finish graphics, have half, some guys on another frum are supposed to send some when they get the chance.
I have a couple of pictures of Twin Otters with skis, two types, straight skis and skis/wheel combo. i have been thinking about it, I'd like the ski/wheel combo and fly it that way. TO have very complicated system for this. The other thing is material, I have .040 aluminum-too heavy IMO, and .020/.025 is not available is anything but a 4'x8' sheet. The scale looks like 13-14" on the mains, 10" on nose. flytreetimes
