Twin Ducted Fan RC Car
Here is a contraption I've been wanting to do for years and finally got to it.
Its an RCcar body powered by dual ducted fan jets.
Parts were stripped from a destroyed RCairplane and put on a body of an HSPbuggy.
It is my first attempt so it is CRUDE . Lots of tape and tie wraps. Future versions will be a little bit cleaner.
Only one problem no brakes.
Any opinions or comments are welcomed. Ineed ideas for a braking system.

as an aside, it really looks to be an RC car chassis, without a body. ;-)

RE: Twin Ducted Fan RC Car
I've been very busy with life but Iam still trying to figure out a braking system for this. Ihave ran it and it works fine but dangerous in case it needs to stop. Video will be up as soon as Iget the brakes down.
And yes the body is a simple truggy body just modified to house the ducted fan jets.
Can you explain this glow "Y" ? Im not sure what it is.
The only way Ican think of making a breaking system is adding a fifth wheel which is locked and that wheel to make contact with one of the rear wheels to slow it down. Gonna be a while but ill get it. Or Icould add a 3rd ducted fan and make it face the opposite way and add thrust in reverse to slow and stop it.

If you have a speed controller with reverse, you have brakes.

Isee now
This speed controller im using is from an airplane so it has no reverse, Im gonna swap it out for a car controller that DOES have reverse. Excellent idea.
I'll try it out soon thanks.
edit:
Argh, cant use vehicle speed controller as Im pretty sure the ESC does not go well with LIPO which the ducted fan jets require for proper speed. Might have to rethink this.

The speed controller will work with LIPO as long as it has a high amp rating and has a fuse. I've used MC112B's with LIPO and had no explosions.

:O
As Isuspected. The Lipo barely worked. The ESCspeed controller was not compatible with the LIPOfrom the aircraft. After testing the power of the ducted fans there was beeping and failures so Iturned it off. On the next charge the Lipo quickly puffed up and smoked, Irushed to take it outside where it then exploded at the side of my house an hour later. Yikes. Only a few burnt bricks but could have been worse if kept inside.
I am going to just buy another ducted fan and face it the opposite way as a breaking mechanism. Going to take at least 3 weeks for delivery from ebay/hong kong.
