YS160DZ power down and a lot of oil
My 160 DZ is way down on power and the chin cowl is always full of oil. Fuel economy is horrible. With 20oz of fuel I can only go through the masters pattern once then better land. Use to be able to go through at least 1.5 before landing. After flying last night I checked valve clearence and found the exhaust side had none. I've readjusted and will try again this evening. Stupid question but, will this cause this much loss of power and the oil problem?? Ever since I went to the short pipe I've not had the power I had with a long pipe and oil is everwhere. Ritchened the pump quite a bit which helped power some, but still not what it use to be.
Hatori 821 pipe

yes they could be the same issue...
Leaking is not normal...a small amount is OK but I have my engines running bone dry. When they are leaking its usually something wrong.
Check the head bolts. I had this happen recently.....

RE: YS160DZ power down and a lot of oil
Thanks Troy,
Adjusting the valves made a difference and I found the oil was due to the O ring in the Hatori muffler. One other problem I'm having is the throttle barrell sticking. If I snug up the back plate screws the throttle sticks. Is this a common problem?
Thanks,
Todd

are the bolts just snug or are you putting some torque on them. You need to tighten them evenly also. so it doesn't twist or warp the carb body.
That being said its not common but can happen.
Send me a PM and I can hook you up with instructions to fix it. Its not something I would give to everyone as it is possible to damage the carb body or throttle barrel. But I know you Todd and I know you are a good mechanical type that can fix it. Just takes a few minutes and some clean up time. It will be smooth as silk then.
