from that date they are almost twice the run time and 1 3rd the weight

I also used li-on battery a lot on both my R/C cars and long range FPV planes, they are indeed lighter, small, campact and high capacity per-mass. However the trade off compare to li-po pack is they lack of punch "C"-rating discharge value. Usually rated average 10A max.
