Default are x-mods worth it?

Are they worth paying $50 for? And are there any alternatives to x-mods? (other small scale CARS not trucks) I want to get a small scale car, but dont know much about them. So is there any other types besides x-mods?

the xmods are not bad, my friend bought some in december with all the upgrades for $$220, other small scale cars are the kyosho mini-z.

No, theyre not worth it.

For a little more money you can get a WAY better car, go to tower hobbies and do a search for mini-z. Ive heard they are pretty good, and i KNOW they will be better than an X-mod.

Theirs also the micro RS4's, Which are a bit more expensive (like $100 for a kit), the duratrax MSF (was $80 RTR, but is now discontinued), and BRP came out with a few mini-s, heres the link http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&C=CAP&V=BRP

The BRP's will probobly be the fastest as their chasis looks pan car inspired.

can you do 4 wheel drive conversions for any of them? Or, do any of them come in 4WD? I want to make a mini drifter.

If you want a 1/24 4WD, check into the ABC DTMx4. The kit is not that expensive and comes with a motor, however, you will need to supply your own electronics.

The micro street force comes as 4 wheel drive, I suppose you could drift it, youll need a hotter motor and better batteries (than stock) for it though.

I think the Micro RS4 is 4wd too, its going to be the most expensive of the bunch, $100 for the kit plus about another $100 for a receiver/ESC/servo.

Nah, I wouldn't get an Xmod.

I used to have one and it was not worth it. I use my Mini-Z a lot more than my Xmod.

I even sold mine a while ago, because I had no use for it.

yes, xmods are worth it, if you like fixing things up. they are fun to mess around with. its also easy to transplant a iwaiver rx into it. but, i would go with the miniz if i were you. most people prefer it.

tnb, were did you get your dtmx4?

I actually purchased it from NML when he was here running on my track. They can be ordered through RC Mart / Dinball and parts can be purchased from a Horizon retailer.

dude!! it was checked on a speed checker. your savage could hit 100+ on a speed checker. there is no friction included in the test. those cars will hit 20mph top on the smoothest of surface. hit a bump, it goes flying. a car that small shouldn't go that fast.

Last weekend I was running Kyosho Mini-Zs on an RCP Track at a Radio Shack in another state and the poor Xmod was having one heck of a time making it around the track. Today, I was informed that the owner had spent $500 in option parts to fix up the Xmod so it would compete with the Kyosho Mini-Zs. I guess if the owner ever makes it here to run like we talked about or if I go there again and he has his highly modified Xmod up and running, I'll get to see want a $500+ Xmod looks and runs like. Then again, with that much modification is it even an Xmod anymore? Ironically, I was also informed that he ended up purchasing a Kyosho/AutoScale body with some Xmod adapter for twice if not more than what a Kyosho/AutoScale body actually costs. I have no idea what he paid for the replacement board but basically a $600.00 Xmod seems pretty steep to me ($50.00 Xmod plus tax, about $50.00 for Radio Shack option parts, plus the $500.00 in additional parts) unless it came with a Futaba T3PK 3-channel radio and AM Conversion Module). Then again, I could always take my 1/24 scale 4WD ABC DTMx4 kit which was pretty cheap if my Kyosho Mini-Zs can't handle the job on the track--and slap in my Mamba 8000Kv motor with a 2-cell lipo (a 3-cell lipo is too large or at least my 11.1v 3-cell lipo is too large).

I live in Macon and when you want to run your X mod against my Mini-Z F1 with out a FET or Turbo up grade let me know as I have 2 RCP tracks that make one heck of a track when put together. Just for fun we can see which rules. I know which one will come out on top! Looking for others in Middle GA looking to do some racing for fun on my RCP tracks from 1/18 to 1/28 scale.

PS There is a guy overseas that has gotten his Mini-Z up to 70 MPH or so he says. I only believe what I see. So lets race and this well tell all.

there is no way that guy spent thay much money on an xmod if you bought all the upgrades for them it wouldn't cost that much some people only say mini-z's are better because of one name kyosho that is the only reason
