Mini T Custom Motor Plate Cutting
Custom Laser-Cut Steel Mini-T Motor Plate - Limited Number Available
A forum member over at one18th.com has the opportunity to have a batch of steel motor plates cut at his place of work for a set fee. This will only go ahead if there are enough people interested in buying a plate to make it worthwhile having the batch cut.
I have been looking for a good quality, hard-wearing plate to replace my soft aluminium one that has become chewed by motor screws and messed up by grinding to accommodate larger pinions for use with my Mamba.
The sample plate pictured has a larger motor shaft opening, providing clearance for larger pinions and is substantially stronger than the stock Mini-T motor plate while only being 1/4oz heavier.
Please disregard this post if it's of no interest to you.
Otherwise, visit [link=http://www.one18th.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37596&page=1]one18th.com Stronger Motor Plate Thread[/link] to register your interest. As metioned previously, if enough people are interested the plates will be cut. The price for a plate is expected to be $10, this includes shipping within the U.S. This is not a profit-making exercise, just a friendly guy willing to help out a few fellow RCers and will be a one-off in production terms.
Check out the thread and the photos. See what you think!

I have no idea. I don't run that machine. I know one is a bystronic? I think. I am a welder where I work, so I don't use the lasers.

RE: Mini T Custom Motor Plate Cutting
I'm happy for your dad that he has a nicer laser than the bystronic. These parts were not cut on this particular machine, but it's the only name I remembered. The other machine is blue...if that helps you any. BTW...let's try to get this back on topic...LOL.

Anything Laser cut is a piece of cake for me.
My dad owns 2 Lasers (Hes a walking Mazak 5-Axis Manual) I think his new laser can cut 1/4th of an inch of aluminum. (Mitsubishi VZ-1 and a Mitsubishi LVP)
So if anyone needs anything Lasercut just PM me.lol
BTW what kind of Laser do you use 5-Axis/3-Axis? Mazak/Mitsubishi/Trumpf?
Well I just took a look at the bystronic website and it doesent look as nice as my dads lasers.
I just cant belive how fast his new laser is. So far we have cut a gear for a FG Marder. (The Marder isint mine)

RE: Mini T Custom Motor Plate Cutting
Easy there Andrewtexas123...LOL. Thanks for the back-up though! All I can say is these plates are frickin awesome. If you are interested...PM me. Otherwise, there is no need to post!
I don't think it really matters what kind of machine they were cut on...after all, they all will come out the same in the end. The REAL machine here is the one they used to write the programs! Thats what takes the time. Any machine can cut them...it's all in the programming to get a great looking part that is correct as well.
Anyway...back on topic!
