ok, I guess I should have asked: What exactly is an "outdrive" I am familiar with spur gears, pinion gears, differentials, but not an outdrive - can you explain or post alink to pictures.

Thanks

ORIGINAL: schuh007

those outdrive covers are also called outdrive sleves, they just go over the stock outdrives to stop flexing, work nice, but the super diffs are just the better option

The 18t has been coming out with the 370 since atleast last christmas. THe outdrive covers are newer, but they still come with them.
oops, You should still check and make sure before you buy. Sometimes the hobby shop will open it up and check.

Or just buy one, they're only $10
It's the gold circle thing that goes over the part of the diff that pops out. On the factory team ones thay are blue.
Glad I could make this easier. If you have any other questions on what to get and what not to get ask me. If you want aluminum, I would get the factory team aluminum kit. You get all of the aluminum you need, and it's cheaper than buying them seperate. There is one peice that it doesn't come with that should be in aluminum, but you can get it on tower.

You guys are great!!! Thanks for all your help.

I know it sounds funny, but I want to gradually get into this new car. I like all the options in the factory team set, and want them all, but I don't want to pay for it all all at once either - just to save total money in the long run. The factory team is about $134, then a new motor is about $30~$50, then a radio is about $80~$100, then a new ESC is about $40-~$80, then a new battery is about $20~$40, and a new charger is $20~$100 - all together, buying the factory team kit sets me back about $350 versus buying the RC18T regular kit for $165 and gradually upgrading as parts are needed.

I have owned 1/8 scale nitro and a few other 1/10 electrics before, so I am ont new to spending $$ on this hobby, but I want to do it gradually.

This thread and [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4353446/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]link[/link] has helped me make decisions on upgrade paths. Thanks to everyone again!! There is a real fountain of knowledge in the people using this forum.

The first thing you will want to upgrade on the 18t is the esc. Then probably the motor. I would get a novak spy and a motor that you want.

I know how you feel about upgrading gradually, but as you know, the ONLY way to save money in this hobby is to do it right the first time.
