Default mini t and mamba brushless question

hey guys, is it true that you have to get a new receiver for your mini t to install a mamba brushless motor and speed controller? if so, can the stock receiver and esc be seperated?

Ur best bet is to probaly look around on ebay and try to find a 18t's receiver but for some reason when i used it the servo went backwards.??? and from what i could tell, there was no way to reverse the servo's direction on the controller
