Mini-LST Tire Upgrade
I've been looking to upgrade the stock tires on my Mini-LST.
Everything I read points me at 12mm hexes and 2.2 tires and rims.
There is a huge selection of 2.2 rims and tires varying from 3-4 inches tall and 1-5 inches wide which makes it a little difficult.
I'm thinking of these HPI [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCEA0&P=7]wheels[/link] and [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLXR7&P=7]these[/link] tires for sand and [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=PROC8286&P=7]these[/link] for grippy surfaces.
Does this combo sound like it will work? Or any other suggestions?

RE: Mini-LST Tire Upgrade
I don't really need bigger tires but the stock ones seem a little small for a monster truck.
I'm really just looking for a unique looking set of aftermarket rims with sand tires and another with bowties (anything low profile with square nubs). I would prefer chevrons but the smallest I found were something like 4.75 inches which just seems way too big.
I'd like chevrons, Inverted that looks awesome. Those things look huge, did you put in a really small pinion gear to keep the power curve reasonable? Those tires don't looke like Proline chevrons, are those some kind of old-school Tamiyas?

The stock tires don't do so well on sand so I went ahead and got the 2.2 paddles. They work pretty awesome but at high speed they wobble badly. I'm sure they are out of balance.
Do I just use a steel rod and 2 magnets and static balance them? Or is there a better method?
For weights should I just epoxy small fishing weights or bolts and washers to the rim itself?

I really like the Team Losi Dish Wheels and 'bowtie' tires directly made for the Mini LST. Here is a set on my MQ (I had to retrofit them on). They are a direct fit for you, and are the right size so you don't have to regear. Those will perfectly fit your need for the bowtie type tire.
If you are dying to go with a 2.2 setup, here is a similar setup with 2.2s. Those are HPI sedan wheels with Losi Buggy Rear pin spike tires.
If you run a 2.2, you are going to want to run a buggy rear tire, not a truck rear tire. The buggy rears are more narrow and lower profile.

I read a article in RCdriver and it said to use a propeller balancer and clay to balance the tires. Yea pics would be great since I go to the beach 3 times a year.
