Use the dirt in your yard, if you have any that is usable. If not then just go to Home Depot and look around.

home depot makes their own dirt? Just get some grass and weed killer and once your area is dead, clean it up and draw up a plan with some orange spraypaint.

what makes "race dirt" "race dirt" is that it will stay together. topsoil wont stay together with water

At my local track the owner uses clay dirt and gets a new layer every new race season. I live in the mountains so there is a lot of clay to spare.

well if you dig up your grass there should be decent dirt under it. about 7 inches down.
thats what i did and its a nice clay mixture. i guess it would depend on the area of the planet you live on.....some of us are blessed with great dirt in our back yards.

one good tip is to pack the dirt with ginger ale, that will make it stiky and clay-like.
