Hey I read in a post that some of you guys boil your plastic parts. Why?

A little bit of each... When you hit something with a plastic part it usually just gives a little bit then snaps. When you boil it it gives a lot more making it take a impact a lot better. Thats why a lot of people boil there plastic parts in cold weather, because in cold weather plastic snaps. Hope this info helps a little.

Nylon absorbs water; boiling causes the parts to absorb more water, therefore improving flexibility. At least, that's my understanding of how it works.

by boiling you mean put the part in a pan, boil some water and pour into the pan?

yeah basically... leave it for like a couple of minutes
you probably need to do it more often in colder climates, for one thing cold air is actually drier than warm air so the water that the nylon will 'dry out' sooner, plus since its cold it goes brittle and snaps easily
