Default My brushless MLST2(New video added!!!)

New video is at the bottom.

It was a fun 2 weeks, but I had to step it up. I went to my LHS yesterday and picked up an E-Flite 370 5400KV motor, Dynamite Mini Tazer ESC, and a 1800MAH 2s 1P 45C battery for $160 out the door. I was a little scepticle about the motor since its a airplane motor. I wanted something tame but faster than the stock motors. This was the ticket. The motor/speed controller work great together. No cogging and no overheating or thermal shut down. I have ran the battery through it twicw with no problems and expect for it to last for a long time. I'm going to add a heat sink on the motor later just for the hell of it.

Here is some video. It's not the best sice I had the camera zip tied to the remote() but you'll get the idea of how good it works.

Here are some picts.

Thanks guys! The clicking sound the the trigger hitting when I press and release it. I noticed that earlier but hadnt thought much of it till you mentiond it.

The slipper is a little loose. I need to tighten it up and eventually get the mini-t slipper.

I got the ESC from my local hobby shop. They cary all kinds of stuff thats even hard to get on the net. Its listed on Horizens web site. It just came out less than a month ago. Here is the link for Horizon.[link]http://www.horizonhobby.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=mini+tazer&CatId=[/link]. Its a great little ESC. There is no setup al all. Just turn it on and 3 beeps lets you know its ready to go!

I think it was worth the price. I have nothing to compare it to. I know its fun though, and thats all that matters.

The price is what gets me. It seems to cost more than most of the 18th scales. I know over time we all sink a lot into them but to start. Hopefully they will come out with a version with no electronics for half the price or something.

The price may seem steep ut I dont know of any other mini that comes with a spectrum radio. That alone is woth some good money IMO. If I ever make it to the track, its nice to know that I wont have to deal with interference. Plus I can pull the reciever out and use it on my 18R when I go to the track.

The drive train on mine is stock. I can get 25-30 minutes of run time with it depending on wether I'm doing speed runs or messing around with my ramp. The pinion is the stock one. It seems to work perfect.

I'm hopeing to get better video of it today if it doent start raining.

You're welcome.

By what I have read, it will wrek it. This 5400kv motor does fine launching it off of my 2 foot ramp. at full speed it will get a good 5 feet of air(I'm 6 feet and it wont clear me). I just took some video while jumping it and also some speed runs. I would say that with this motor its, at least, twice as fast as stock. GOOD FUN!!

I wouldnt go with more than with a Mamba 6400kv. I think anything else and you will be putting lots of money into the drive line after every good bash session.

The video should be up later this evening. Ill update this thread.

Yea I think that you would be getting more air off off that ramp. I'm getting 10 feet with my BMX one.

Those were'nt full throttle jumps. I was getting comfortable with it. I dont know about 10 feet, but I was getting a good 5-6 feet of air after the camera ran out.

do you know how many teeth the stock pinion is on the MLST2?

I've been neighborhood bashing mine with the stock motors and 2s 7.4v 1250mAh CSRC LiPo's. I've had to replace a front wheel c-hub and dogbone (ramps + speed = repairs). Seems I just stripped my spur gear, so now it's time to upgrade.

I have a E-Flite Park 370 4100kv BL motor from my CP Pro, I'm thinking about installing with either a Quark 22A or Mamba 25A ESC.

here's a pic of my park 370 bl install.

For speed, and neighborhood bashing what gear ratio are people using?

Lookyj, that looks good. The pinon is a 24 tooth. Losi makes up to a 25 for it as an option part. Robinson racing makes them up to 26.[link]http://www.killerhobbies.com/items/team-losi/team-losi-mini-lst-lst2/robinson-racing-hop-ups/list.htm[/link]

I'm going to throw a 19 the there because its too fast for my 6 year old for now. Once he gets the hand of it I'll throw the 24 back in with a 3s lipo and see what it can do.

I broke the front shock tower yesterday launching it off of the ramp. I orderd that plus some stiff blue springs along with the mini-t slipper. We'll see how well it fits. I also filled the front diff with 3000 wt fluid. I plan on filling the rear with 7000 to really lock it up. They arent sealed but they dont seem to leak. The fluid is pretty thick.
