mini mod motor defective?

mini mod motor defective?
So i baught a reedy mini mod motor. I also purchased the novak spy esc reversible. i plugged everything in the way it was suppose to. So I figured. The esc started smoking and is now black the motor armature has a loose wire i dont know where it goes. I spent over 100 dollars for this and now it is gone. And im only 15!

gamesbeer1 that isnt what i meant. i meant im 15 so making money is harder and that much money is alot. and i do know what i was doing. ive been doin this stuff since i was born.

On the mini mod motor the brushes are removable. On my motor one of the brushes is sautered to where the red wire is. on the other side the Brush wire isnt soldered where my black wire is. Is this the problem? I will post pics later. Could this have caused my esc to burn up?
