Default Please help, I got Orion Baja, but it has no motor leads...

I got this motor for a Tamtech 1/12 car, but I see that it doesn't come with motor leads. I knew about this from the Tower website, but I have a spare set of Trinity "No Solder" leads thought would fit, but now seems too big for the motor. Tower says they don't stock the motor leads and connectors I'm looking for... what are my options now? thanks

Find some spar wire and connectors and start soldering.

What size/gauge wire should I use for a motor this size?

Depends on what you want. I think 18 gauge should do it.

Okay, I finally got some time to work on this, but I can't figure out where the positive and negative terminals are on the motor. There are no markings, and I'm a relative newbie when it comes to electrics. I do know how to solder, though. If anybody can explain with words or post a picture, that woudl be really helpful. thanks!

I just looked at a old Trinity Mini Monster motor and I don't see and signs on that either. Maybe you should just try it first. It won't hurt the motor or the ESC. If you get it backwards the first time then it won't take anymore than 2mins to fix it.

There should be a positive (+) and negative (-) marks on or near where the wires would be soldered on.

Wow, I must really be blind! There is a marking for the (+), but there definitely is nothing saying where the (-) terminal is. There are 4 metal tabs sticking out of the back of the motor. One is marked (+), but I'm not sure if the (-) goes to the tab diagonal from the (+) one or one of the adjacent ones. The tab diagonal from it has a copper wire coming out of it. Is it safe to assume this is the one I'm looking for?

edit: I know I'm making this more complicated than it should be-- basically, there are 4 corners to the motor. One is marked (+). I'm trying to figure out where the (-) one goes. Here's a link showing the back of another motor, but it looks close enough to mine.

http://rcvehicles.about.com/od/mods/...ricmotor_6.htm

The (+) is marked on mine, so I'm going to solder my black wire there. Now does the red wire always go in the same place (ie, same as in this picture), or can it go in one of the top two corners?

you can solder the negative on any tab as long as it's not on the positive side of the motor

Does anybody think that I need a wire thicker than 18 gauge for this motor?

Not at all.You could actually run 20-22awg.
