I was thinking to get the aluminum upgrade that cen have for the shocks, do you think this is a good buy or will be better to get a new whole set and replace the stock ones?

Anyone got a good choice to replace the stock engine?

Now that parts are getting harder to find like piston/sleeve, rod and bearings.

i was going to use an OS 18 with a short shaft crank. Then you would only need the clutch adapter CEN offers.

Otherwise use the 3.0 from CEN?

The OS 18 might be a bit much for this truck IMO, I put one in my mt2 and it chewed up diffs like crazy. and the MG16 dont really have the strongest drive line to begin with. but if you could find a stronger center dog bone and better diffs that thing woul be a insane little ball of fury

So what exact crank would you need to fit the OS 18 in this truck? The standard crank with the CEN MG095 adapter or the shorter one? I have seen different opinions on which OS 18 engine. I just ordered one of these trucks and of course interested in upgrading the engine even before receiving it. Check this engine upgrade out!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocoDnsQVpFI
This is the one I remember being posted somewhere. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGGP6&P=7 . Thanks in advance.

It would be best if you can find a ME16 or order the chassis and parts that are different between the two MG and Me. I think it would be a little difficult to mount a lipo on the nitro chassis. I maybe wrong, i am going off memory of when i had my MG. My ME i ran a castle 4600 and a VXL 3500 on it with 2s 4000mah 20c. There are more lipos out there now so your options maybe better.

This EZRun bl looks about the correct KV for this size of a truck.
Good luck

depends on what your going to power it with. If it is a finned sided BL motor it is actually a smaller can motor than the smooth sided motors. If you can find something 60 amp to 80 amp with a smooth sided can with a KV from 3500 to the 4300 you should be fine. I have not used the finned motors before and read in multiple places the can sizes. Because it is a smaller lighter truck you maybe able to get a way with the smaller can. I personally like a little bigger so i don't have to worry about heat.
There is an ME thread i was a part of years ago if you search it. It will have much usefull info on BLs in this platform.
AS far as the conversion, i think just the chassis, radio box, center shaft, body, and motor mount were different... i think...

here are two threads. I have a few vids of these also on YT.
