Default Mini Quake SE Pro Gearing ?

Guys I've been in the RC hobby for over 20 yrs but I'm new to the world of mini's and I have a simple question. A few weeks back i bought a Mini Quake SE pro before Tower dropped them. It has a Novak XR5 ESC and a VR3 motor. I'm running the stock 16/45 gearing and the VR3 is getting pretty hot. I know I need to gear down and i'm looking at the 13T pinion linked below. My question is will the 13T be low enough or do I need to go down to the 11T. Anyone running a VR3 that can point me in the right direction

I'd get both if I were you. The 13T will help, but its always nice to have more options. Also, for your next motor, get the Duratrax high rpm motor. Its the red motor. Those are better than the vr3 in a Mini Quake since they do not tend to overheat as easily.

i am running the 11t pinion on mine. since the vr3 has pretty good top end, it still goes plenty fast.
