rc18t 10 cell gearing? Driveline upgrades?
alright so I just made my elite 1500 10 cell, I'm going to run 1/10 tc wheels. What gearing should I run? I want the fastest speeds possible. Don't worry too much about heat I'm running 3 fans inside. So what's the fastest gearing I can do and what upgrades can I buy to bulletproof my drive line?

Mip super diffs, steel input and diff gear, 54t aluminum spur. As far as pinion I think I have seen 22t but I'm sure you could find higher. Most of that stuff I mentioned you can find on ebay or the toyz.
Also how did you align your batteries to make it fit...i want to upgrade to 9 or 10 cell nimh pack.

i don't at the moment, but i could take one later. but i can tell you how, i put 6x1 in the standard battery slot and put 2x2 stacked between the motor and the servo.
So with TC wheels on an 18T you gear higher?? i thought you gear lower.. please someone answer this i'm leaving in thirty minutes to the shop.

You gear lower on the spur for more speed and higher for more torque on the spur. For a pinion the bigger the more speed you will get. I see how you did that now.

RE: rc18t 10 cell gearing? Driveline upgrades?
Alright so i'm running Touring Car wheels, at 12/55 gearing 12v Elite 1500 10 cell pack.
I also went with MIP diff outdrives. and wow are they worth it. my only gripe is now my
truck literally melts spur gears. the first battery i had to replace the spur gear twice..
i only bought 3 spares today so i decided to try and learn how the car likes to accelerate
i noticed when i gun the throttle from take off my spur will grind. but if i take it slow and
open up after it starts moving it helps, i was able to word through 3 charges on that 3rd
spur. any opinion on how to fix this? also i'm thinking of converting it to an RC18R. worth it?

get a delrin spur and set your gear mesh right... it should be loose enough so you can move the spur just a tiny bit (rock back and forth a tiny tiny bit) without moving the pinion.. do NOT use an aluminum spur, you will shred that thing fast.. if you want to go metal, get titanium.. but prepare for the noise level of the car to go WAY up.. I personally like delrin spurs, I run them on my 18R with 15/55 gearing and a 3s lipo.. if you set the mesh just right, and make sure the motor is straight, so the pinion and spur are perfectly parallel to each other, the delrin spur will last a while.

The delrin is better than aluminum? They should make steel spurs like the diffs they have. Don't titanium one go for like 30 bucks?
