WOW [X(] looks like you made a friend with the wall lol!
Tonight, i finally got around to installing the software to link my ESC to my computer and i must say, i am amazied how easy the Xcelerin is to work with. And finally i was able to put the drag brake at 0 vs 8% that would just send the car spinning when i would go neutral for a turn. Now it just glides right through turns! gonna mess with throttle curves and the like once i get a little more familiar with the program.
BTW, can you take a pic of your maxamps battery installed in the car. Since more then likely i will be getting the maxamps 3 cell, id like to see how it fits. I was also looking at possibly getting a Thunder Power 3 cell pack but i may have to do some minor modifications to the stock chassis'd car and maybe even to the 3racing chassis'd car.

i think i messed something. its either my diffs or spur. my spur and diff both look like there in great condition just after using the brake all night now it makes that ear scraching noise that everyone hates. im not sure so if you had that problem hit me up on it lol

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
its most likely the rear diff ...or maybe your diff isnt shimmed properly or one of the gears in your diff almost stripped but it didnt .. that happened to my lil bro once ..
hahaif they use dr pepper isnt the track gonna be filled with ants ..hahaha
o also emaxx where do you race in california ??
and one hop up i would like to recemmend you is 3racing titanium turnbuckle ...your foams seems to be wearing unevenly in the pictures ..and have a positive camber...which means less responsive handling ...
got any vids or pics of the track you racing on ??
:]

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
well i guess i got another question! im looking to finally upgrade my servos (two 18R's) and i have my eye on something Digital as they seem to always center them selves better then Analog, could be a little faster the Analog, and arent to overpriced. Anyways the servo i am looking at is the Futaba S3154 Digital Micro Servo.
http://www.gpdealera.com/cgi-bin/wga...pgm?I=FUTM0654 Cost is ruffly $35+ shipping at towerhobbies
Also, is the AE XPS2 Rx/Tx digital and proportional? or would i need to install a differant Rx/Tx to get the benifit of digital? As far as dimensions go, it looks just to be a tad bigger then stock and should basically drop right in

it has 4.7 kg/cm torque 2.5x the power of a rc18t servo
and its faster ...stronger more responsive centers much faster less glitchy and humming
my servo i got for $22 off hobbycity.com great digital servo ... its metal geared too and the gears are GREAT QUALITY .. soo smooth

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
well right before the race i put in a brand new diff in the back and its still good. check the front diff and its good to. check the spur and its fine to. everything is shimmed good. it was never making that noise until later in the night. when ever i hit the brakes the screaching noise would come back.
well its the syrup they use in Dr Peper haha.
its just partking lot racing at hobby headquaters in atascadero.
next time ill try and bring my camera to take pictures. they only race everyother weekend so the next race will be on the 19th...but i think that weekend im going to OCRC to go race 1/10 but ill try to get some pictures next time i go
EDIT:: in those pictures the car is in pieces but i just placed the body on so thats why the tires are all funny looking [8D]

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
the lines give a little clue ... because you have + camber the outside of the tire wears faster there fore it will be darker cause its a clean rubber

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
oh!! i get it. so that little 1/2 inch of foam on the tire isnt really being used. isnt it good to have like 1-2 degree of negative camber so when your going around the turns all the tire is on the surface instead of just the outside right?

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
yepp NEGATIVE is good !
but you have POSTIVE camber !! hah aha
so the line should be nearer to the spoke side of the rim not the inside of the rim

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
yepp ... thats what i did for my little brothers rc18r ...
bought a baggy of rc18t ball cups ..
cut 2mm threaded rods and twist the ball cups on ... 2-56 threaded rods also work ..
but if you make your own everythime you want to adjust you need to take off the turnbuckle and adjust it because you dont have the middle nut like what titanium turnbuckles have so you cant adjust with wrench

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
just currious if you EVER clean those tires, if you don't, they will never grip like they should, ive heard of using that goop hand cleaner (without pumice/lotion), smear it on the tires, let it soak for a bit, then wipe off real close to the start of the race with a CLEAN rag, should keep things nice and grippy , as for the 'sticky stuff' they use, i think its called like paragon ground effects or something like that, in my T (very close to the R as we all know ) i run a HS-65MG and its seen a bunch of hard knocks, keeps comming back, has enough torque to flex my chasis easily!. Mousesi2k how do you like that 3racing chasis, seems prety nice, thought i would ask, i am considering an R conversion of my T but i don't know of anywhere to race it, so it may become an R oval car

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
The chassis is very nice and well put together. To me, it feels lighter then stock weither it is or not, it feels like it to me lol. The car seems to handle a bit better then my stock chassis R but that could also be because it has the titanium turnbuckles on it and it has slightly differant camber/toe. I dont have any negative things to say about lol other then i wanna cry when i see a new scratch on it. HAHA!
anybody know about my previous question a few posts up? is the XPS2 digital and proportonal capable? and will the Futaba S3154 be a drop in servo?

RE: OFFICAL RC18R THREAD
so i bought a Thunder Power eXtreme v2 2200mah 3cell lipo(25c/50c) today and holy *uck, i swear my 3Racing chassis R is like a Delta 2 rocket. its basically to fast to control lol! i have yet to figure out how im gonna permently mount it. for now, it has a strip of 3m 10pound double sided tape and a velcro battery strap. Its a rather large size pack and i have yet to lay it down in the chassis. And as for getting it mounted into the stock chassis R, ive yet to figure out a way lol! maybe the same way will work minus the strap.
After a little of further inspection, i might be able to move the electronics to the normal battery side of the chassis and mount the battery to the top chassis plate. We'll see what happens!
