This things got me all confused
http://www.r2hobbies.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcve00045
so i understand that its a knock off w/o any actual team associated parts.
But, if just the ECL and The motor are quality, it seems that it'd be worth it.
i mean, everything else like gears, suspension, and chassies can be replace/upgraded for less that $50 a part....
has anyone actually bought one of these?
but it seems like a risk because it dont say what type of motor and ECL (i.e. brand names) it actually is....

I have had 3 18t knockoffs and they were all ok quality. The 18t parts fit perfectly and work flawlessly. For the price of that one in perticular it seems like a FT AE would be a better buy. I got all 3 of mine for under 80 bucks a piece. They looked identical to that one.
I guess it is up to you. AE makes better plastic than these guy's do. The plastic is the only draw back,,,,it cracks and break much easier than AE stuff.

It's up to you whether it's worth the risk.
Personally, NO not a chance! But others will differ.

Knock offs are fine. Be careful how much you spend though.
The 18T isn't anything special, you might want to look at a Pro-Pulse if you are thinking of one, it has better steering, is very tough and although brushed is still faster than the 18T.

Name-brand RCs are special primiarly because of the factory and aftermarket parts support they have, along with the factory testing of vehicles and parts before they're released to the general public, something ANY knock-off lacks.
If you don't mind giving your money to some scam artist that's copied a product that another company put hundreds of hours of research & development into producing, that's you're choice. Otherwise you're whole contention and point of PP superiority is ridiculous.
