Mamba Micro pro fried on first run
I just bought a mamba micro pro with the 8000 motor from my lhs. I put it in my 18r on 2s lipo. It was extremely fast the one speed run i did down the street. When i tried to turn it around it would not come back, so i went over to it and it was smoking, so I quickly disconnected the battery. I am pretty mad as now i cant run this car all weekend and possibly the rest of my winter break. What could have happened? I just emailed castle creations. My first mamba 25 w/8000 motor was fine and never did anything like this.
THanks,
Dean.

8000kv would require a much larger pinion gear if you went with the same pinion you had in prior to the brushless is most likely what caused your problem and you most likely did some damage to the motor to if it got anywhere near as hot. I'm not just guessing I've burned a few before finally realizing they are more delicate than they appear

I actually had a 17t pinion. But i tested the motor with a different speed control (VXL) and it worked fine.

Atleast Castle has wonderful customer support. Hope you get it fixed soon. Also, try a smaller pinion. 17t IMO is pretty big for an 8000kv

Plenty of times lol my "beater" body is pretty tore up from the numberous kartwheels it likes to pull off. I have pretty good control of it but if i happen to run a pebble or a small lump in the road over, it becomes the kartwheel master

Its OK, we can get through this together. I'm missing mounting screws that are not available anywhere near me. [:@] Oh well, I'm expecting my first nitro to arrive on the 6'th

Oh, thats a drag. I lost one on my old mamba motor and i was able to get some kind of associated screw at the lhs that worked. That first nitro should be an experience, mine definately was.

The smell of nitro burning and the sound of it ripping up the track (or neighbors yard). is always a good experience. I just with I could buy an inferno mp9. Or an AE sc8. All my nitros are super old save for my inferno gt... but I ransacked it for pieces to rebuild my old Landmax...which somewhere along the lines became a landmax2.

Cool, I'm getting the Mini GT 3.0. I don't think it was a good idea to call it "mini" becuase its really 1/10 scale. The name alone turned off alot of nitro guys who thought it was gonna be another 1/18 electric. Oh well, More spare parts for me

Well i started out with a nitro rustler. I ran the crap out of that and got into electric minis for a while. and then i got a savage and runs way better and is way more fun and easier to tune. Im sure the MGT 3.0 will be great, like everything else from associated. I would love an SC8. I may be able to get if the prices come down, that or a baja 5T/B
