Default Rare cox Hybrid?

I just saw this on ebay and thought it looked quite funny. It is described as a rare cox graupner glow engine...

Haw I bet its not even diesel!
If not how do you get to the glow head?
I think these are called cox "extreme texaco" engines and are even rarer than a drum valve olympic .15

Some ignoramus has stuffed/bodged a Taifun Blizzard head on top of a Cox reed valve 049.................! That being said Graupner were the European distributors for Cox right through from the early 60's, and the Graupner name was given prominence not Cox (same with the Taifuns-unless you were in the know you would think Graupner produced the engines not Hans Hornlein)so Europeans may have got their wires crossed a bit................

You're right......and wrong! The Olympic was a reed valve engine..........but!.......As part of the development of the TD 15, drum valve experiments were conducted on the Olympic-at least two distinct versions were built in small numbers (a few dozen)-and these were pased out to notable modellers of the day -Woody Blanchard springs to mind-for flight testing and assesment. They (the drum valve versions) pop up on Ebay from time to time and go for big money-because they ARE rare....and quite genuine Cox items. Easily recongnisable by the upward sloping rear venturi and white plastic drum housing. From backplate forward they resemble a normal Olympic.

I have, in an old book, a short article about running a TD with Spacehopper backplate and a tuned pipe. This was for control line speed. Both the TD and Spacehopper needle valves received fuel.

The Cox "Texaco" was glow with a special head and some different parts(special prop driver to use bigger props). It wasn't rare in its time in the 90's and was used in a specific AMA class.

I know lol it was just a joke
A good texaco .049 will do 20 minutes on an 8-4.
