Has anyone built a "Chips"??
I've always liked the way this one looks, thinking about buying the plans.... Did it fly well? Was it powered well with a .10 sized engine or did it 'need' a .15?

I was thinking about using one of the older Enya .11CX's with the AAC liner for the project. I've had it for 13-14 years, it needs to find a home and a Chips might be perfect for it.
When you say 'short kit', do you mean an Feebay deal or something?

I ordered plans from MAN this week, can't wait to eyeball them....
Wondering what else might be a good fit... Norvel .15 for light weight? PAW .19 diesel? .15FP? ...or the .11CX?
Choices, choices....

Got the plans today, it's quite a bit larger than I thought it would be-should have a really nice wingloading. 'Course everything looks big when all your airplanes are 36" and smaller.....

Thinking about taking the lazy man's route and getting the laser cut short kit to speed things up.
This thing might get an MVVS .15 diesel.

Well, yeah... as posted above, I have the plans in hand and will be ordering the lazerworks parts. I work afternoons so my free time isn't really free so I do what I can when I can.

I know what you mean.. I work days and drive an hour each way.. so time is not easy to come by. I am also going to see a surgeon tomorrow for my knee so who knows when I will be getting at it, but i will be watching yours..
How do the plans look? It seems to be a pretty simple design.

Plans are straightforward, it's just a box fuse airplane with a sheet canopy on it. The ailerons look small and the tail is pretty big, Not sure how much I like that. The fuse is tall and skinny, landing gear will be easy to make. The nose is a little narrow for my MVVS .15, I'll have to spread it a teeny bit for the engine bearers to clear. Really hoping not to have to machine a custom mount for it.. but I really want to use the MVVS. I also have a PAW 19 that might fit.. Maybe I'll get lazy and use a Norvel .15, that should fit, no problem. If I could find another MDS .18 I'd use it-fits the same mounting space as an OS .10 but spins the bejeezus out of .10-.15 sized props.

The parts arrived from Laser Works day before yesterday. I haven't inspected them yet because I am not at home (I split my time between my place and my GF's) and don't want little balsa parts falling all over the place. So far I can tell you that dealing with Laser Works has been a real pleasure-they were fast and the parts were packed very well. The stack of balsa came saran wrapped in a nice box that was paper packed and the parts were fine even though a corner of the box got a little crunched.
I'm going to work on my rural property upstate over the weekend but when I get back I'll take a pic of the parts laid out on the plans to show what you get from laser works.

Awesome... looking forward to seeing it... I gettin ready for my knee surgery so I think I will have some time to follow the progress. I have heard really good feedback regarding Lazer Works. I think when I get back on my feet I am going to order the CHIPS and Bobcat... I will try to get down stairs to my workshop to take a pic of that Magnum Engine so you can see what I am going to use on my CHIPS.
