Hopefully the seller is being honest. Thankfully the ebay system limits your damages mostly to just time wasted.

You could try a needle valve in the vent line, but the tinyest orifice you can insert into the line should allow adequate venting.
If this doesn't work, I'd go the other route and rig an exhaust pressure line.

Yes If he cant make it happen soon I will have to take action dang shame, he has a good rating as a seller so we will see.

The battery failed me today the last 90 deg smack head on into the ground the last time I flew caused a solder joint to fail.
I was getting connection but when the engine was running the vibrations showed me something was up I managed to chop the throttle and at about 15ft off the deck at which time it lost sync all together and banked right and tumbled in arrrrooooo going to fix and go out later today is the plan at the moment -do have vid but short flight do to the batts.

Thanks Chuck, the restrictor tube seems to be working in the short flight (about 6 passes) the rpm's where hanging in there at speed no loading up was noticed thus far.
Although when I chopped the throttle back due to radio issues did two passes then the engine quit couldnt hold an idle in the air more arrooooO moments.

I find the medallions work fine on breather tubes, but I use crankcase pressure on all my TD motors. But I do have Texas Timer needles on all of them as well. I really like the consistancy of the medallions. My TD's tend to remind me of why I'm so fond of the norvel's.

Lol Bill, my TD's reminds me of exercise but yes if I give in and slap one of my Norvels on the front its like going to a 130w outrunner the challenge is gone with nothing left to do but fly. Went out again the engine was screaming and sadly the lovely weather had drawn out tons of folks. I set up far away from the masses and started up my engine but the clans of folks kept coming with their kits and their dogs and kids and such like bats and soft balls and soccer balls and well you get the idea. So I picked up my gear and stopped the engine with my fingers and moved another 40 yards away in a huff. Up and away she went as I was grabbin for the trim levers some guy walks right through my low pass fly by zone up to me and figured it was a good time to get hit by a speeding 1/2A plane while he gives me the hundred questions....welp that did It I packed up and called it quits wasn't my time toooo many dumb arses out n about with no common sense to set up the kids dogs and kits away from the guy with the fast lil screaming plane over 15 acres of flat grass and they where like moths to a light bulb! Last summer I had the field to myself most days as they couldn't hack the heat.

I'm going to order a plug with an idle bar I think the lil TD may fair well with one as the 09 RC likes it. Bill I bought another Medallion the other day a .09 and then promptly bought a TD crank for it. I bought it as it had a throttle sleeve woot its the only way to get them Cox must of never made them for the TD .09. I now have two of these sleeves one on a TD already for the Lil Miss project and two TD 09 RC with the mufflers so all set for the rest of my living days. I plan to use one in a future project for a V tailed Cheetah.. The cowl cheeks are ment to direct air to the wings root for additional lift allowing a help in the turns, dead stick landings whatever aid the sped up air can do.

here is a pic of the design thus far.

Yes that's full size if you have enough screen to view it about 27in long if I recall..

Here is my latest score 28 bidders trying for it yet it went cheap for an .09 with a throttle sleeve.

Looking at the 3 vids today my last run had me at 19,542 rpm in the hand. 4.75 x 4 / 74 mph static.

It won't even help to get a bunch of tattoos and piercings to scare people off nowadays because even the local kindergarten teacher has a bunch of tattoos, piercings, black lip stick and streaks of blue tinted hair.
You'll just have to wait for the hot weather to keep those Zombies camped in front of their TV sets..

Lol yea was just tooo sweet of a day I was happy to get a little flying in with two trips to the field (early morning is the trick on a nice day or late in the day). I did break two props today argg so ordered 6 more 4.75's down to 3 at the moment don't like being that low with this prop as its a perfect fit for the Skorch. I was able to get much better hand launches today instead of level throws I'm tossing upwards. The grass is short yet thick enough to cause some tumbles the first prop break was due to the battery fail. Second one was a down wind surprise dead stick.

Weeeeeeelp the Skorch flew again today with the new 16 MP cam will post a vid working on the upload now!
The first thing I noticed when watching the vid is the high def grass!

APC 4.75 x 4
in the hand 19,380 rpm / 73.48 mph
In the air the engine ran steady I was getting 21.4 to 23.3k depending on wind direction
In the air 81.06 to 88.3 mph

Video still from a fly by today photo taken with my cell phone off my monitor while I paused the vid
I need to download some software to auto take snap shots off quick time vids for true res views.
Same method was used with the 5 MP cam vid paused.

Total engine run time from start up to empty tank was 6.03 mins on 1 oz 25% nitro.

With my google chrome this page starts it at 360 dpi and allows a reset up 720 / 60 fps HD

You may have to use the link to watch full screen 1080 / 60 fps HD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Q0nFOCJtw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Q0nFOCJtw I had a visitor pop over so couldn't fly in as close as I like big white clouds in the sky had the sun blocked
but the new cam managed to make some good footage will have to play with the zoom next time.

That was a great flight and video...!
It played back the best for me at 480....could be because of limitations at my end. The screen freezes every couple seconds with HD selected.
You've got the plane so well dialed in, it's too bad there isn't anyone nearby who would like to race.

Thank you CP it was grooving right along today showing what a stock TD .049 with Cox RC carb can do without the muffler.
Bummer you cant watch in full HD there is no lag or chop on my comp nor on my wi fi tablet. A cold boot may clear you enough ram
to watch it with no other windows open nor ran prior to vid viewing it would be cold boot let the comp settle down then go straight to
the vid and let it preload some.

It ended up running a bit rich. Had a good oil trail going and the plane landed with more goo then normal, but never suffered on the vertical climb outs. I think I can sneak in another half turn getting dialed in though Im close. I ended up taking the breather tube restriction off, the spring on the needle seems to be holding my settings well I could have been getting some migration. You may have noticed it's launching very well with the 4.75D I have bought 3 of the APC 4.5 x 4 to try next I think there is still enough diameter to have in launch straight out. At the moment the engine is static in the hand at 19.4k I think the 4.5D can have me at 20.2k ish static. The cord of the blade is less and the hub matches the Cox engine. The 4.75 has a bigger hub and the cords graduate smaller down to the 4.2 on the left.

4.2 / 4.5 / 4.75

The mouse race guys are using the electric 4.75 - 4.75" props. I guess they are faster, and give better mileage. That matters with the reedies on a set size tank. The TD may respond well to the pitch too, as they are not a high revving engine because of the heavy piston and weak ball socket.

Yea would make sense to use them as the reed engine turns up less rpm and it only needs to haul around a CL plane.

So far the TD .049 has not needed ball socket resetting the Skorch is around 11.3 oz less fuel as a 5ch plane I have to watch
the drag load on the engine. .
The needle setting is getting close soon I can start in idle and ramp up when ready to launch to minimize load on the socket.

A few more flights and I want to install a .051 cylinder with a nelson head. Observe a few flights then swap the Cox carb
for the large intake Tornado carb with a fuel nipple twice the ID. At that stage a APC 4.5 x 4 should spin around 24.8k unloaded
down wind or in dives. After that install a Kustom Kraftmans pressure back plate to take full advantage of the larger carb and fuel nipple.
This will be about the max I dare go with a TD to preserve a useful life span.

Anyone with an electric drill can lighten a TD piston.
If you look at a KillerBee's piston skirt thickness and compare it to a TD's you will see one of Cox's speed secrets.
The other speed secret is the KB has a huge intake tract and less surface area drag on the crank.
The stock TD might have had a limit of 24-25,000 with frequent rod sets.....but with a lighter piston the Red Line is increased quite a bit if you remove as much weight as you can from the piston skirt.

Looks like a nice flight.

Now time for removing the landing gear and fitting a Norvel .061 for something a little more serious?

The landing gear has already saved some props and greatly reduced field rash and thwarted possible structure damage

This is a serious Cox .049 powered 5 channel plane having rudder with tail wheel steering and flaps.
It is the fastest stock TD .049 powered 5ch plane I have ever seen or heard of. This design will achieve faster speeds as
I expound the Cox 1/2A engine with aftermarket upgrades and props. The progressions will be documented with video and
pics for reference for future enthusiasts with similar interest of collected 1/2A Cox engines and add on components.

Well, I have gone through my share of different props on the Cox 05RC already. The solution was very simple in the end, all it took was to replace the engine with a Norvel. Here are some numbers as a comparison on 10% nitro and the same APC 4.75x4 prop (stock RC carb and mufflers):

Norvel .049: 20500rpm
Norvel .061: 22000rpm

I didn't mean to pick on your design, but in the video I didn't see much "use" for the landing gear, instead it seemed to mainly cause problems by violently flipping the whole plane over upon touch down (one can easily break tail surface that way, don't ask me how I know...). Plus there is the extra weight and drag in the air from the landing gear.

You have a cool toy there with all those channels. Just winding you up a bit. I have trouble flying my Norvel .06 Simple 400 at full throttle. I can't imagine going a whole lot faster at my skill level at least. Mr Cox is maybe right about the tumbling on landings. Been there, done that.

Pond Skipper is working towards a FULL RIDE Sponsorship from COX you guys....! Summer hasn't even started yet and he's got a 100 + mph air frame, so just be patient with him......
Jeremy Chinn claimed 123 MPH from his TD .049 Caliente...so that's the Holy Grail of "OLD SCHOOL 1/2A" speed...!
I'm pretty sure he needed to lighten the piston, set the exhaust at 180 degrees and adapt a tuned pipe to it. The intake tract has enough "meat" to make it possible.
I don't remember how much detail he ever provided about that fabulous run.

Yea the landing gear needs to stay this was not built for just flying fast, besides it protects the flap and aileron servos.
In time I will source some pavement to enjoy take off and landings. I need to dial in the idle and confirm stall speeds.

Chuck lol how did you know??? shhhhh it's a multi million dollar deal on the table.

I hope to have no onlookers at my hip next outing I want to film some acro up close.

Things to try:
- Knife edge passes
- Spins
- Inverted
- Stalls off the rudder
- Knife edge loops
- inverted flat spins

Ode to the TD Cox engines:

I had set a progression course starting last summer with the TD .010 then .020 now .049 next is the
.051 and then off to do the 09 flying completing my quest with the TD .15 by the end of the summer.

Next summer 4 cyl projects

Running Coxes like this is it's own separate hobby that I might try someday.
I'm still waiting for the sponsorship deal from COX to be finalized.
So next Summer you're shifting to 4 cylinder models..?
Inline or radial..?

The Cox Conquest is the cream of the Cox line. I would bypass the TD .15, unless maybe you can find the TD Special. There is an old reedy Sportsman too. I have one of them. Pretty slow, but it may have an application at some point.

Yes the Conquest has some power to weigh there is a few good vids on you tube showing what the rc version can do.
I have 2 of the Sportsman .15's with two types of exhaust throttles perhaps something with them one day.
1 of the Olympics with slide throttle
2 TD Specials with throttle sleeves
1 of the Mark II .15 and will finish out with that.

Chuck if you want a new old stock Cox Killer Bee let me know.
